Walz makes 7...

...Like I said I am OK with change that is good. Pitino & Petrino were changes that helped the program, the Jurich change was not.
I'd go one step beyond that. HOW you effect change also matters. That's a big part of U of L's current problems, and it has nothing to do with the old management...

True fans or any other labeled type fan wants the best for their school's athletic program. I would disagree that the "best" is measured in terms of Office Politics but rather in recruiting, wins, rankings, tradition, reputation, championships, etc.

Jurich needed to go, but not how it went down. Jurich had many enemies by the end of his tenure. His ability to operate the way he needed was going to be more and more difficult with the new leadership. I wish they handled it better.

With Walz staying that is a win for Tyra. The only question that remains with Tyra is can he or his department fundraise at a high level. It is a legit concern, but only time will tell.

Looks like it won’t be 7 today. We’ve only dropped dead weight (outside of Lolla).
Courtney Trimble

"...In six seasons, the University of Louisville women's golf program captured a conference championship, registered 30 top-five finishes in tournament play, 12 team titles, and five-consecutive trips to the NCAA Regional Championships."

I guess "dead weight" has a different meaning to some people...LOL!

I do to but Tom let his basketball program become mired in scandal. Wrote a ridiculous contract for a football coach no one wanted and in the end thought he had to answer to no one.
All of that with the wisdom of 20-20 hindsight.

Author, author!

Who said that? "Vince" was supposed to make sure that didn't happen.

"We have a contract..." :p
Some guy that pretends to root for Louisville. He arbitrarily puts people “in charge” in quotations, out of a severe rustle.

Clowns live in places like California while criticizing people who actually attend games. But please stay where you obviously belong...

Exactly , that's why my original post said " I used to think". That wisdom from hindsight and all.
I'm not sure what you're talking about. This was your first post this thread...
They might not like the University but they dislike the shape the Basketball program was left in by Petrino under Jurich's watch.
Thanks for offering it, but hindsight has about this much value...

It is understandable how the board can misinterpret much of Zipp. To be clear, not to pull fan rank, but he's probably one of the biggest supporters of the university. He just has a different form of expression, and comes with the angles less taken, albeit with much repetition.

That said, if Walz is returning, it is happy times. There is no other way to slice it!

Says the guy who cheats his way into the yum and steals others seats. Hoosiers will Hoosier though. The land of meth and trailer parks.
:p Lives in the Land of Fruits and Nuts while insulting other states. :p

When you start actually going to games, come back and talk to me...

Putting your post in context FWIW - Grover Sales is a big supporter of Kentucky athletics as well.

That's provided you've analyzed properly. Just because you're doing it in hindsight doesn't mean it's right.

The only reason Jurich was no longer the ideal fit here anymore is the clowns he would have had to work with. That's not an indictment of him...

And back to back basketball scandals with his refusal to fire Pitino had nothing to do with it.

I do go to games, but you already knew that...irrelevant pot shots seem to be your m.o.

Oh well.

None of which he was primarily responsible for nor knew about or even suspected. And it had nothing to do with him being kicked to the curb.

I'm still fascinated how some otherwise smart people don't understand that and haven't moved on. Maybe you can shed some light...

I don't think Grover's bottom line is misunderstood.

You got to admit it would be a little boring around here with out the Zip stir. Get what I did there with stir? Ha!
No - Grover’s not misunderstood. He went from loving Pitino to hating him enough to bash everything he does at every chance he can out of the sense that pitino’s disloyalty harmed uk.

Completely different scenarios - lol.

He was the AD. He was responsible for his Coaches conduct. One of them has an issue that causes a NC to be vacated and less than 3 months later his staff is caught on FBI tape buying players. He is told by his boss to fire the Coaches in question and refuses but he has no responsibility? You need to take your own advice and move on.

I hope "Vince" is someday a fraction of the AD that Jurich is/was...
let's see TJ was at the helm during the worst times at u of l and his leadership, or complete lack thereof, lead us to several national embarrassments. TJ was the CEO of a national laughing stock scandals and somehow you give him all this credit, for doing what? for all the good he did, the bad things that happened under his regime will never be forgotten and should be pasted all over his resume. hoepfully vince erases all remnants of TJ

btw, since you hate Vince so much, and he's not going any where, why don't you just SHUT THE **** UP!!!

OT - So, the other day I had a comment deleted for using profanity, specifically the word s*** Using the example above where the writer used the $ to avoid using the word ****, i could have just replaced the s with a $, and all would have been copacetic. Seems a bit rediculous to me. Was anyone fooled what the writer meant. We're all adults here, although some don't always act like it, and this bit of sensitivity seems silly. But in the future, I’ll try not to **## up.

Evidently not. He was fired without cause ("retired") and paid $7 million as compensation.
...One of them has an issue that causes a NC to be vacated and less than 3 months later his staff is caught on FBI tape buying players...
No one in federal government or the NCAA have implicated Jurich in anything. Also, $7 million. Furthermore, decisions to retain Pitino were not unilaterally Jurich's; he was the fall guy.
...He is told by his boss to fire the Coaches in question and refuses but he has no responsibility?...
Unsubstantiated bull$hit. Again.
...You need to take your own advice and move on.
I love talking about "Vince". His apologists keep changing the channel...

I love talking about "Vince", and that's not changing anytime soon considering his performance so far.

If you wanna start a thread on Jurich, his accomplishments and shortcomings, I'll be glad to participate. (Think twice before taking that bait...)

He was responsible for NCAA compliance for all his programs. Let's not mix up what his responsibilities and the strength of his contract language. His and Pitinio one sided contracts have protected them, but that doesn't mean they were responsible for their people. All it means is they have to pay them. You could say the contracts and the people that approved them were themselves negligent.

We're all responsible for NCAA compliance if you wanna globalize that relationship. The NCAA never implicated Jurich in any issues, such as institutional control. And U of L has paid Jurich what he was owed and "retired" him.

Canning Jurich was an opportunity that the clown show had, and they took advantage. They couldn't live with his power base and control. Dumping Pitino prematurely was an effort to get at Jurich.

None of the evidence supports any direct responsibilities that Jurich didn't fulfill. That's an after-the-fact fan narrative...
