Walz makes 7...

And there are no fans that I can find who stay away from basketball games because of the PRIOR regime. That's simply a narrative unsupported by actual evidence...
You keep saying that which fine from your perspective, but I know multiple people that turned in their season tickets in both football and basketball due to the crap that went on. What we don't know what the real impact has been.

Tyra's biggest challenge is raising money to provide the coaches what they need to be successful and reach the their goals. I think we have all agreed on that from day one. Walz does a lot to promote his program, and recruit getting funds to do that sounds like a big internal fight directly tied to the budget.

It is a significant shift from Jurich era give them what they want to Tyra here is what you got go figure it out. I don't see Tyra holding money back if he has it, but right now his responsibility is to run a financially sound department. For a current coaches like Walz and Lola that is a tough time pill to swallow. That is why you bring in coaches that fit your philosophy. Both Mack and Satterfiled understood the vision or they wouldn't have signed up.

It would surprise me if Walz left but it isn't about salary. It will be because his vision and Tyra's vision on achieving the ultimate goal are really different. When you have really good people you turn them lose and give them what they need to be successful.....the second part of that statement is the issue.

When I said when you go to an athletic event and see what Jurich built I was talking about the top notch facilities.
Fair enough, and no argument about the facilities. But you didn't mention facilities in your original post.

And do you ask them why they're turning their backs on players and coaches and administrators who are trying to clean up the mess of the old regime?

Of course you don't. Bring them here and I will...

I don't disagree with your analysis of the situation, but I don't agree with the messages...

Jurich's was "I want to be the best at ____; you tell me what we need, and I'll get it."

Tyra's is "I want to be the best at ____ provided we have the money." That's not really wanting to be the best which is why coaches are leaving.

And it harkens back to what many people were afraid of when the new regime took over. It's de-emphasizing athletics, that athletics are only important to a point. That "point" didn't really exist with Jurich.

If you support the new regime, some or all of it, you're buying into that mindset. That includes people who have recently hired in and who must support it. Your coaches are OK with being only as good as the resources they have to work with. Your AD and Prez are good with their coaches only achieving to that standard. It's an acceptance of mediocrity, and it's a culture change at U of L...

Which coach(es) left saying that? Do you have a link with their quote? I must have missed it if one exists. Please enlighten me/us.

Your last sentence is utter nonsense. No one ever has said "we now accept mediocrity as our culture", in the Athletic Department or anywhere else at UofL to my knowledge.

Now it may be how you feel or think about it....but that statement is a stretch of reality... and has no facts in evidence....or do you have a link on that too that none of us have? Please share if so.....I would love being proved wrong.

I never said I have quotes or facts. All I have is unprecedented coaching attrition corresponding to the hire of "Vince" under the mantra of "deemphasizing athletics". That latter part is indeed nonsense or should be.

I was born on a Thursday, but I wasn't born yesterday...

I'm not conducting a study. I simply know what people have told me. No one now dislikes U of L because of Pitino and Jurich...

People have told me that the scandals have sapped their enthusiasm for UofL basketball specifically and UofL men’s athletics in general.

So, you have nothing then. Typical biased POV.

Wishful thinking on your part. Or some would call it.....embellishment to even outright lies to support your sick repetitive agenda.

Your criticism of UofL is so one sided, you are like the sound of the tree falling in the forest with no one there to hear it. How many sheep agree with you?

Unprecedented coaching attrition? Which coach that was removed was not justified? You are so full of it....that you even believe your own lies now.

Nice deflection on the day you were born..which is so typical of your M.O.

Carry on your disgusting diatribe that not even sheep will follow you on. Baah, Baah, Baah bleets the Zipp. Sick.

OK Zipp, let"s see it please... A link to the article where someone in the administration says the university now has a mantra of "deemphasizing athletics". It exists only in your own mind. Spending $3 million on a football coach and $4 million on a basketball coach certainly doesn't fit with that fiction.

You mean you want to go back to the clown show takeover and see the newspaper articles with that in print? Do you have memory issues, or is it just denial?...

Show me "we are going to deemphasize athletics."

He can't produce anything but his own warped mind of BS.

The exiled John Schnatter made some off the cuff BS remark as if he speaks for the UofL Administration or anything for that matter.

I see you had no reply for my last post as if you possibly could. Why am I not surprised!? Run away from the truth when it sets you back.

LOL... Find me a POV that's not biased--BY DEFINITION. You understand English?

While you're looking, find me a lie I've told. One. You're in denial, so it's more easily rationalized as a lie. And I criticize the elements of the U of L universe that warrant it. Calling it "one-sided" or whatever makes you feel good about the differences between you and me is simplistic thinking on your part.

We have never lost so many coaches in such a short period of time. That's what "unprecedented coaching attrition" means. You just don't like hearing it described that way.

Deflection and sarcasm are not the same thing. It's that English problem again.

Mayo, I used to enjoy your contributions in this space. Now, you sound more like a defensive Kool-Aid drinker, slurping that clown show juice. At least, you're not dehydrating... :p

Zipp, you are embarrassing yourself.

From your first link: " Many Louisville fans are concerned that Louisville's new leadership plans to deemphasize athletics after firing Tom Jurich on Wednesday. Interim AD Vince Tyra said after the Board of Trustees meeting Wednesday that he doesn't share the worries and won't allow the university to deemphasize athletics."

That's the exact opposite of what you claim. In your first link. First two paragraphs. University leadership never said what you claim.

You mean because "Vince" said otherwise? :p

That proves nothing. In fact, it exemplifies what Shakespeare observed.

Embarrassing is not understanding what that means...

You are about as good at spinning things as UK fans. The main challenge is can Tyra raise money? The reality is you nor I know yet. Data, since you like data, shows Jurich could raised money over his 20 years. You have 20 years of data with Jurich and 1 year with Tyra. Your statement on Jurich is accurate, but it took time to get to that point. You don't have enough data to make that claim on Tyra. At the moment is how he is operating, but if he becomes a successful fund raiser I believe he will support his programs.

The bottom line is you don't think Tyra is capable of being AD you want to cut ties with him now. We will continue to get different opinions on why everything is Tyra's fault.

Yes , the people I know continue to watch but when things happened they stepped away. They may come back once on this scandal stuff is over.

So how many years does "Vince" get to show what he CAN'T do? Two more? Four more? Twenty? I'd like to know how far back in the pack U of L falls until someone like you says "enough".

I already have compelling data for "Vince"--I'll repost another of my favorite charts below.

And what does "if he becomes a successful fund raiser...he will support his programs" mean? Otherwise, he won't? So we're at the mercy of how well "Vince" raises money? I thought the guy had transferable skills we were confident about?

At the moment, I don't want "Vince" going anywhere. I enjoy some of our fans continuing to have to apologize for him.

I thought the scandal stuff was over with "Vince" and the clowns in charge? Sounds like you need to educate some of your friends...

They might not like the University but they dislike the shape the Basketball program was left in by Petrino under Jurich's watch.

If only restaurants and businesses would figure out that the key to recovering immediately from any issue(s) is to put a “Under New Management” sign on the door. Customers come back immediately (according to wise “Zipp”).

Wrong context. The prior restaurant had plenty of business. The new one, not so much...

No, it had plenty of business when the clowns cleaned house. If you'd like, I'll post the metrics on that--again...

Please post the metrics. You’ve worked so hard on them. And don’t provide any context around them because that’s what all the great analysts do.

I don't know the future goals for the athletic budget, but 1 year isn't enough of a sample size.

That chart shows a decline which means people aren't happy generally with the direction, but that isn't compelling evidence they aren't happy with Tyra. Again you believe the scandals, tax laws, new President and 2 years not making the tournament had zero impact. The only factor you put in your analysis is Jurich, which everyone agrees is a big factor, but it is more.

It means he will provide what they need to accomplish their goals. McDonald wanted a pro locker room Tyra got a donar to make it happen is one example. Mack/Walz wanted an updated practice facility they got it. Those are 2 examples. It doesn't matter where the money came from new or old money he found the money.

None of us are apolgizing for Tyra, but we sure aren't obsessing over something which couldn't control with Jurich. It wouldn't of mattered whom they brought in as AD. It wouldn't have changed the fact people weren't happy with the handling of Jurich and that money that left with him. It wouldn't have been done in a year especially when the football team tanked.

The last I checked Louisville had 2 assistant offering money one on tape until there is a official announcement that is dead everyone is waiting for the notice of violations from NCAA. Pitino assistants are the gift that keeps on giving.

If you all want to defend Tyra's inability to raise money that's fine. If it continues very long we will no longer be a top notch program. How long are you going to give him before you expect results? Remember when Jurich came in our program had problems then but it didn't take long fo him to get everything turned around.

Bottom line everyone knows whom is responsible for all issue's this university is experiencing. So those that want too keep that negative vibe going from that regime why don't you just go root for the school up the road. No one especially on here wants too keep reading how a new regime is responsible for all this .crap. Why do you keep acting as if you are U of L fans? It's obvious you can't except change. We don't need you!

That is really a dumb post if we don't agree with you you're not a true fan so go away. I am fine with change as long as it is good change. You are OK with change because you want something better so do I so far I don't think Vince is better.

We have had good change. We’ve eliminated a coach that was at the helm for 2 of the bigger scandals in college basketball. We’ve eliminated a coach who was so unpopular in the coaching community he had to resort to overpaying under qualified assistants and family members. Fundraising may end up being a problem. Time will tell but we had a house that wasn’t in order and it’s a process to shore that up.

May end up being a problem is an understatement how broke do we have to be before everybody recognizes the problem? Like I said I am OK with change that is good. Pitino & Petrino were changes that helped the program, the Jurich change was not.

I'd argue it's shortsighted to support university management that you do NOT believe has the best interests of your athletic department in mind.

And that TRUE FANS want what's best for athletics, not just people who were put in jobs. Whether I accomplish that or not, it's what I try to do...
