A very nice recognition for Cards WBB junior Hailey Van Lith.

Van Lith has been named to the second team Preseason All-American honors from The Athletic.

In the recent weeks, Van Lith was named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Watch List. She was also named to the Preseason All-ACC for the second-straight season. The Cards were selected as league favorites heading into the year.

Van Lith is coming off an impressive sophomore campaign. She helped guide the Cardinals to their fourth Final Four in program history. Hailey had a huge NCAA Tournament run...she totaled four-straight 20+ point games to begin the tournament. She was the only player in the 2022 NCAA Tournament to have four 20+ point games and she was named the 2022 Wichita Regional Most Outstanding Player.

During the regular season, she led the Cardinals with 14.4 points per game and averaged 15.4 points per game in conference games, a mark that ranked sixth in the league. She will be a prime factor in how the WBB Cards do in 2022-23, along with Carr, Jones, Robinson, Cochran, Williams, Verhulst, Dixon, Konno and a talented freshman class.

Congratulations to Hailey on receiving the honor.

The first team? The AP released its preseason All-America team. South Carolina's Aliyah Boston, and Iowa's Caitlin Clark were unanimous choices, joined on the team by Haley Jones (Stanford), Ashley Joens (Iowa State), Liz Kitley (VT) and Ansheea Morrow (DePaul).

Good lawd. Boston has been at UScJr for 8 years or so.

It was well deserved for HVL and I think she will continue to win awards. She is very talented along with a very dedicated work ethic.

Va Tech pounded UK the other day and Liz Kitley went of on them. Can't wait till I get to see Kitley in person, but oops guess what - they don't play here this year. 😩
