For the first time in my memory, I have little expectation to leave Lexington with a win. Brooks has Amoore along with one of the tallest rosters in all of WCBB.

Jeff will unlikely give so many non-starters as much floor time as he did against UT Martin, but that could be exhaustive for our top 5 or 6.

Go Lady Cards!

Agreed. It is early, young team and on the road. Just play well and whatever happens, happens.

Playing….ok. Down 1 at the end but f the first. Amoore getting away with a lot of contact. Imani needs to just slow down. She had the athleticism to beat defenders off the dribble; she seems to be rushing a bit. Earth to Olivia - there’s a game going on. Rebound and stop turning the ball over.

Cards up by 3 at half. Not shooting well. Olivia…I don’t know. We were playing better with Elif in the lineup. Nyla, Randolf and Cochran should be able to draw fouls. They need to ball fake a little more. The team is hustling…just a little scattered.

Cats go big and go to a zone. Jeff has one outside shooter in the game, makes no adjustment and we are now behind for the first time in the game. 😤

Going down to the wire. The announcers, go figure, are Blue homers. Haven’t heard them mention one time that we are playing w/o our starting PG. They have mentioned the great sellout crowd in historic memorial gym about 50 times.

Cochran shooting us out of this game. She missed two, consecutive pretty easy shots. Win or lose this group has played hard on the road in a hostile environment. I think they are going to be a good team…it will take some time for the group to mature.

Looks bleak with 35 secs left. Our two most experienced players have not come through-Cochran and Harris (who just missed an easy layup). Loving Williams’ game!

Yep, our returning players have been our biggest weakness tonight. Olivia’s defense has been pretty good - her offense terrible. Nyla - just bad. Russell - overall, not good.

When you shoot 57% from foul line, and 40% from the field, you aren't gonna win many. Our upper class are the ltoblem. Just like they were the part two or three years.

The positive thing is our freshmen are really good and sUcKs freshen didn’t show anything. The Va Tech transfers were the show for sUcK. I agree with CJW if he can keep this freshmen class together for the next couple of years it will be a special team. I am not counting out this year, when we get Curry back she could change things. There is a lot of upside to this team playing 2 top 20 teams one on a neutral court and on on the opponents court and we kept it close.

I will never give up on any CJW team, but right now this team is vulnerable to any formidable opponent. What I witnessed in the 2nd half against UT Martin, was evident against UK, poor shooting and inability to finish in the paint. I am sure having Jada back could make a significant improvement in several aspects of our game, but it will not cover up for our weakness inside.

UK’s decision to hire Brooks will result in a marked improvement in the UK WBB Program. If he can be successful eliminating this team’s TOs, their size in the paint will pose problems for a lot of SEC teams this season.

Olivia went 1-11 from the field, had 6 RBs and committed 5 TOs in 38 minutes; Conversely each of the 3 UK Bigs had 13, 9 and 9 RBs respectively and combined for 38 points. A 5th year Senior like Olivia cannot perform that poorly and expect the team to win. If we had any one of those 3 UK Bigs, the outcome would have been different.

Serious question. Is it recruiting or NIL? Brooks found several sizable players who can play. Recruiting or NIL? I think CJW needs to improve his asst coaching pool. I think recruiting took a dip a few years ago when we lost (his name escapes me, to Ms St). CJW added two assts and…meh. Our returning players - good lawd. Russell - let the game come to you and just play your role. Harris - I thiught she was going to blossom i to a real force. Instead, she still seems timid and not overly confident. Olivia - Sheesh. Her on-court facial expressions (comes off as pouting) is terrible. Her offense is limited. She just meeds to play defense and rebound - but - she is seemingly not pushing herself to rebound. We were a better team when Elif was in the game last night. We have three other 6’4”+ players who didn’t sniff the court.

Louisville continues to try to do against taller opponents what they do to shorter or same height opponents. Walz and his players don't appear to ever adjust their game according to the height they are facing. Those easy buckets around the basket just will not be there unless you have a clear advantage. Olivia continues to try to back down a taller defender and shoot over them. The same for Harris. It does not work. Respect your opponent's height advantage and adjust your shots and game to match. UK had NINE blocks. The first or second time you get your shot block should tell you to change something. This will also be a problem with ND and other opponents with size.

^^^^^^^^ totally agree; once again we are witnessing the disadvantage CJW has with the absence of skilled BIGs.

Talked to the new Asst coach (from Clemson) at Central Cardinal Club and she says the girl coming on board
from Danville Christian next year is for real. Not a project. She is 6 FT 5 inches but not stocky. Hop she will be
the answer we need in the middle.

I would like to see some of our Women Volleyball players spend time with our inside BB players on how to effectively maximize the skill in jumping. Not just Cochran, but so many of the tall women playing basketball rely on their height and their advantage with reach when rebounding and blocking shots. Seldom do you see our BIGs bending their knees prior to jumping to obtain elevation, as so often they never leave their feet when rebounding.
