Louisville basketball coach Pat Kelsey is going international with his latest addition to the Cardinals' 2025 recruiting class.

Sananda Fru, a 21-year-old power forward from Germany, has committed to the Cardinals, a source with direct knowledge of the situation told The Courier Journal on Tuesday. The Field of 68's Jeff Goodman was first to report.

Fru, who stands 6 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 245 points, plays for Lowen Braunschweig. He is currently averaging 12 points on 75% shooting, five rebounds and 1.3 blocks across 17 games.

Fru is the second member of U of L's 2025 recruiting class. The first was Mikel Brown Jr., a consensus five-star point guard who has been named a McDonald's All-American.

FYI, from Nick Coffee on the radio a couple of weeks ago in terms of returning players on the team he did mention that Chucky has no eligibility left and he has to leave but Pryor and Hadley are each this year using the final year of Covid (no more covid years for anyone, this was last year to still play under that bonus) but they both get an extra Junior College transfer year that Vandy's QB fought and got for everyone.

and then KP (i keep thinking he's going to be on the court in a month for some reason which i know is impossible) will get another medical year for his ACL and thus have 2 more years of eligibility. I truly hope that 502NIL can keep him here. I feel he's got some NBA promise, European Leagues for sure and he'll get paid somewhere, but sure hope he and Javonne, as well as every player on this roster, can stay. realities probably different, but this is a fun team to watch and from top to bottom not a single complaint about any player. since ole miss game, cannot remember anyone bringing up dumb or boneheaded plays. that was always a constant here no matter who the coach. RP specialized in players who could make the stupidest plays at the worst times. CPK seems to have a knack for avoiding those so far. a few bad alley oops attempts maybe that resulted in a turnover, but otherwise fundamentally soldi performance so far.

Things are heading the right direction. Good to see.
we aren't heading in the right direction, we're on cruise control now on a straight line path to success. no more heading or steering, this coaster is on the rails going fast, high, and far!!! jump on, buckle up, and enjoy the FFFFING RIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOOOHOOOO C-A-R-D-S GO CARDS GO!!!!!

Amazing! I may have missed it. As he is 21 yrs. old, just wondering what class or yrs. that he would have at UL. Thanks.
There seems to be some confusion on how many years of eligibility Fru will have.

Most are saying he'll have 2-3 years to play and will probably be ruled as a sophomore or junior if we're looking at other players from similar situations.

Yes Earsky, shooters. Whether another FR out there or from the portal…he needs 2-3 shooters one of which is a ball handler. One FR PG and Koren is not enough.

I really like what I've seen of Fru so far. Rim running, dunking, and can pop the occasional open 3 pointer to help space the floor. Plus I trust Kelsey and staff on talent/personnel evaluation.

I don’t know anything about anything so this might be a dumb question

Is this a “guaranteed lock”? The lead says “committed”.

We’ve gotten excited before just to get PO’d later.

Fru is currently committed but not signed as far as I know so he's not a "lock". You know how fluid things are in recruiting today. Even signed isn't necessarily a lock either.

He fits the system perfectly. He is a bigger version of Pryor. The potential lineup and the flexibility with those line up is interesting. They may not have a dead eye shooter like Smith but they will have legit shooters from all 5 spots except when Scott is in.

They need a replacement for Smith. Ament not sure where he would fit in if Hadley and KR returned.

They are going to lose multiple people more than likely just the nature of the beast.

Arms are so long he could pick up a dollar bill from the ground and leave 4 quarters without bending over 😂

Can someone explain which of our current players will likely have any eligibility remaining after this season?
James Scott will be a Jr next year following his sophomore season.

Koran Johnson will be a Redshirt Jr next year after a medical redshift following season ending shoulder surgery.

Kobe Rodgers will be a Redshirt Sr following his medical redshirt after tearing his ACL against Alabama in the NCAA tournament last year.

Ali Khlifa will be a Redshirt Sr following a medical redshirt for off-season knee surgery.

K. Rooths will be a So following his freshman year

J. Hadley will have 1 year of eligibility left due to the NCAA court case ruling that any player who played in JUCO will have 1 additional year of eligibility.

K. Pryor by technicality COULD have 2 years of eligibility remain. 1 year for his medical redshirt he should receive this year because of his ACL surgery and an additional year because he spent 1 season in JUCO.
