Russ Smith sets D League record

We all knew Russ Smith was a baller. I hope he gets a fair shot with another NBA team.

I know the NBA is a little different than D League but I can understand why kids leave college. There was almost no defense or very little played. Russ probably let his man score 30. It still was awesome to watch. You would think that with 65 points there would be a lot of 3s but he scored the majority of his points going to the hoop.

Russ needs a chance with the right team and he'll flourish. Like HE said. HE is a winner.

Russ filled up the box score for sure. This wasn't a case of a guy forcing bad shots all night long to set a record. He shot 57% and had 6 boards, 4 assists, and 2 steals, while only committing 3 turnovers. I watched most of the game; his team lead comfortably for the first 3 quarters, then went on an unbelievably bad shooting drought.

Delaware 87ers’ guard Russ Smith scored a whopping 65 points during Wednesday evening’s matchup against the Canton Charge to set the new D-League record for the most points scored in a single-game. Surpassing a mark recently set by Jordan McRae on January 26, 2016, Smith finished the outing by shooting 24-of-42 (57 percent) from the field while sinking 16-of-20 free throw attempts.

In addition to his 65 points, Smith registered six rebounds, four assists and two steals over the course of 44 minutes. Also committing five personal fouls to fill up the box score, he turned the ball over just three times after controlling the offense for the majority of the affair.
