Michael Bush

He was the difference between a national championship and where we ended up. No doubt.
I couldn’t agree more. One horse collar tackle by a UK linebacker cost UofL a title and really sidelined Michael’s career. He was never the same runner. My favorite UofL football picture is from the third play of that game and depicts Michael on his way to the end zone with the entire UK defense in futile pursuit.

Half of them were on the ground having been trampled underfoot.

I don’t think it was a horse collar from what I remember. It was just a very awkward tackle and the most unlucky situation in UofL history,

The linebacker pulled his jersey and did all get could to bring him down. Bush was so strong that he couldn’t be brought down like a normal back and it was just an odd play. It was like his strength wouldn’t let him get taken down like a normal player, but it ripped his leg in the process.

Absolutely a horse collar!

I played golf with him last summer. Pretty good dude, solid golfer. He's around a 2 cap.

I saw it in real time, and like everyone else, it looked incredibly awkward at the time, but only reviewing the film could qualify as a “horse collar”. I met Michael’s mother at her place of employment prior to the injury, and discovered her to be both humble and proud of her son.

You can grab the back of a jersey. He didn't grab the shoulder pads at all. That's a legal tackle. It was just unlucky. I mean unless you just don't want to watch, he pulled his jersey to bring him down, the video is there and his hand never goes near the shoulder pads. It truly was a freak accident because the sUcKs LB just couldn't bring him down normally and Michael's leg got caught awkwardly. You can see him grabbing around the middle of his number, not the shoulders.

The definition of a horsecollar is below as well. You can grab a jersey. Honestly, had the defender grabbed him by the horsecollar it might have been better for MB.

The horse-collar tackle is a gridiron football maneuver in which a defender tackles another player by grabbing the back collar or the back-inside of an opponent's shoulder pads and pulling the ball carrier directly downward violently in order to pull his feet from underneath him.
