I just got to where I can watch the game I can’t believe nobody posted a thread. Anyway we need to do a better job defending the 3

The only thing keeping UNC in the game is the 3 I would rather extend the defense to the 3 point line and sacrifice the 2 pointer.

Cards simply turn the ball over way too much. They are just careless with the ball. They would be up 15 if not for the turnovers.

Now it's the 4th quarter. Cards up 5.

We'll see.

I have little use for Cochran and Williams. Cochran can’t make layups or free throws and Williams is a women wrecking crew for the other team.

Walz has got to find post players via transfer or high school who have strong hands and can jump higher than six inches off the ground. Cochran and Harris neither have strong hands and neither can jump which leads to missed layups and missed loose balls.

They both are pretty good rebounders and play decent defense, but both are at a disadvantage when they switch on defense. Walz had to use Russell at the PF position when Harris got her 4th foul. He has at least three options on the bench but has to use a taller guard instead.

For some reason, Walz has not been able to recruit upper level post players and he has to rely on multiple short guards to win games. It's why he hasn't won it all yet and he won't if he doesn't start landing some front court all conference players.

Also, he should of put his best defender on that freshman (Grant) who was on fire. Yet, she continued to get open shots.

I am watching sUcK vs LSU women’s game sUcK is up by 14. Big Blew has 6’7”, 6’5”, 6’4” and 6’3” players LSU doesn’t have any player over 6’3”. LSU has some of the best players in the country they just don’t have size this year. We should take page from Bug Blew and recruit some talented bigs.

Olivia came in with HVL and she was a 5 star IIRC. It's hard to find a coordinated athletic big girl that does everything well that you need from a post player. Aliyah Boston at South Carolina and now Indiana Fever is probably the best I've seen.

We were destroying them mid 2nd quarter and quickly changed both of our bigs, and Curry. Quit full pressure against a team down two starters!!! UNC started hitting uncontested threes as we would try and found ball handler. They found their touch and kept it. Most of their threes were uncontested!!! Poor play and very poor coaching decisions. Do our assistant get involved as much as a previous staff?

This Louisville team has some fundamental problems that the players need to correct. Their on ball defense is terrible and they give up basline drives too easily. Playing defense is about pride, effort and desire. Running along side the dribbler with your arms in the air is not defense. You play defense with your feet and not outstretched arms.

We have had some good bigs in the past but we haven’t had any since Shook graduated. Cochran is our big and she is 6’3” not exactly a big in today’s world. Whatever happened to the 6’6” player we have? I hope the 6’5” player coming in next year is good enough to play right away.

Didn’t the 6’6 player decide to play volleyball but ended up transferring

She is still on the team I wish they could get Cara Cresse to play basketball. She is 6’6” and she actually jumps imagine how many rebounds and blocked shots she would have. She would make a lot more money playing pro basketball than pro volleyball.

The more that I watch UL WBB, the more evident it is to me that we simply lack the same level of talent that we have enjoyed in the past. Yesterday’s loss to UNC for example, had nothing to do with size, or lack thereof. In fact, we out rebounded UNC 42-27, their 6’3” center had 11 rebounds, and Olivia had 10. The difference was their kids hit the shots when it counted, specifically in the fourth quarter, and anytime your opponent hits 10 of 22 of their 3s, it’s difficult to expect a win.

Yes we came very close, leading for virtually the entire game, but a missed open 3 and a TO in our last possession on our home court is disappointing.

If it’s any consolation (not much for me), UK led LSU by as many as 15 before losing at home, after getting clobbered in the 3rd quarter 24-6. UK may be the tallest team in the country as Koz pointed out, and LSU may be the shortest, but the Lady Tigers out-rebounded UK 47-39.

I too would like to get a tall athletic inside presence, but we need a lot more talented girls like LSU’s Mikayla Williams if we want to win an ACC Championship in the future.

Turnovers. I've said it many times before with this team. They just make careless turnovers over and over until it finally costs them the game.

They make bad decisions and take unnecessary risks and any lead they do get, the turnovers allows opponents to get back into the game, especially in the 4th quarter.

I agree that we rebound well with our bigs, but they miss way too many in close shots and they struggle holding onto the ball. Walz hasn't had a true dominant post player. Kylee Shook took more 3's as a big and had some of the same inconsistencies with her hands and finishing around the basket.

This Louisville team is just limited in all facets and rely mostly on two short guards for big plays and as we have seen, that's not good enough with all the talent teams have today.

I agree we aren’t getting the same level of talent that we have had in the past. I do not think it is a coaching problem I wonder if it is the lack of NIL money if so that needs to be corrected. I saw a video of one of the top guards in the country that will be going to Duke next year. How are we being left behind on the recruiting trail?

Money is leaving the City/Metro of Louisville rapidly. Money is going somewhere else. Anywhere else. Louisville is a pretty much a dead-in-the-water city. And that situation results in people with money, who could help out with NIL to the University, taking their money elsewhere.

I’m sure there’s some truth here, but I think most of the dollars are directed at MBB and FB. We have good following with WBB but the big money goes to MBB and FB.

I believe that both Guardman and CardFirst are correct; when Owsley Frazier passed away, we lost a one of a kind contributor to UL and the city of Louisville. It appears that Men's Basketball and Football have been able to find those willing to provide financial support, but not so much for WVB, WBB and Baseball.

If money is leaving Louisville then we need to look at the city leadership. Right now a lot of cities are losing money for multiple reasons. Some businesses are moving out of urban areas because it is cheaper and safer. The university leadership needs to step up and start having more fund raisers. Josh needs to understand that his only job is not hiring coaches but raising donations as well.
