Hope the team can bounce back and notch another win in the Conference schedule.
Go Cards!
Go Cards!
Does Uofl ever set any picks. A nice pick and roll would be nice every once in awhile
I was just thinking the same thing too. It would be nice to see Enoch get a screen down on the post.Does Uofl ever set any picks. A nice pick and roll would be nice every once in awhile
We will win because we’re playing a shitty team! This non pressing, lazy pack line defense SUCKS!!!
My man Sam finishing strong there!
It's as if they have to think about whether and when to get it and go. It should be 2nd nature, like a pick up game, when you just GO!New As bad as our half court offense is a lot of the time, you would think we would want to get out on the break and try to create more easy buckets. Yet we're #303 in pace of play. It's mind boggling
Keep your man in front of you not gamble for steals is the defensive philosophy of Coach Mack.Congrats on the win. But I am not impressed with the TEAM effort. A win at home against a depleted non ranked team. Where is the half court press defense. Try to force some turnovers.
I was listening to a conversation between Paul Pierce and Scottie Pippen over the disappearance of a true center in the NBA. Seems like most 6-10 and taller want and need to be able to shoot from the 3 point line. They credited guys like Nowitski and other European players and guys like Kevin Durant who have influenced the change. That’s why you don’t see Shaq size players come along even though Shaq was very mobile for a big man. The profile now for a center is 6-10+, 245 - 255 lbs and able to shoot from beyond the 3 pt line. Even though this is college, nearly every player’s ultimate dream is to play in the NBA. Both Pierce and Pippen concludes the conversation by saying if they had a son who was 6-10 or taller and their coach was trying to teach them to play with their back to the basket, they would go to the coach and ask for a release. One more thing I liked seeing was Williams using the baby hook couple of times. With his size he needs a go to post move he can score with besides lobs, put backs, and occasional jumpers.

Oh I agree. I am just talking about why there is a reluctance on big men to want to play with their back to the basket. Enoch was 5-12 and in this game should have had a higher percentage. Within 5 feet he’s really good, but when teams push him out to 8-10 feet, he’s too finesse. I wish he try to tear the rim off sometimes as close as he gets the ball but it’s always a baby hook left or right. Also if you notice, he almost never kicks the ball out for an open 3.That is the way the NBA game has changed and also why both Enoch and Williams want to show they can hit the three. Mack let's them shoot the occasional 3, especially if open, but to me, it is a waste for a big man to have zero post game.
Can you imagine if Enoch was allowed to just quit playing in the post here and only try to bomb threes and face up jumpers? If you have that size it's better to be able to do both though it's easier said than done.
Good for you. I’m glad you didn’t have to watch the first 34 minutes. You may have figured something out here.I only got to watch the last 6 minutes of the game because I was under the impression the game started at 8PM CTS. I tuned in about 20 minutes early to see where the "early game" was doing and was stunned to see the Cards playing.
What little I saw I was happy with. The Cards had a 5 point lead and never let the Canes get any closer while pulling away for an easy win.

Just trying to understand the philosophy of this coach. Does Mack want him to pass out or does he have green light every time to try and score. Are there going to be any times or circumstances where we will try to push the tempo or no? What happens when we are down 12 with less than 6 minutes to play? We went to a zone against FSU but it seemed more like nothing else is working let’s try this. The weakness of the pack line defense is 3 point shooting. The zone doesn’t remedy that problem.Yeah that is one of the problems in the offense. As much as you hear them say they need to go inside more to Enoch, he also needs to learn to pass the ball back out for the open man or to reset his position.
Like you say, when Enoch gets the ball out too far, instead of passing back out, he always forces the shot instead.
