Is he a victim of the larger arenas and the shooting background? Some shooters are much more successful in smaller gyms. I remember some players saying shooting in expansive arenas can affect depth perception with some shooters. It's incredible how many wide open 3s Smith misses. He must have girlfriend problems 😅
I see many on social media saying PK needs to play zone sometimes on defense or at least every once in a while.Really glad we pulled this one out. That would've ruined my weekend. EKU is decent and we've got things to clean up at both ends. As usual, good effort staving off a team that was head hunting.
I wish we'd get cleaner in the half court sets and not get stagnant with the motion and extra pass. Defensively, just have to be better at helping each other weak side
Sure couldn't hurt. I also think he needs to call a timeout when we build a lead and refocus them because soon as we get a decent lead, instead of building on it we usually cough it up.. That's pretty unusual for a team with as many seniors as we have..I see many on social media saying PK needs to play zone sometimes on defense or at least every once in a while.
What do you guys think?
omg, that's what uk fans always said about cal. i think the issue with the zone, at least with EKU, is they can rain from deep so kind of negates the zone. simply, we missed a run of shots and let them back in. but zones with modern shooters inspired by Steph are almost useless. bring your guys to the 3 point arc and other team simply steps 4 feet back and shoots. and against taller teams useless due to inside out game. throw over the top and back out and they rain three's again. plus scott too young to stand up against a big guy. KP beofre his injury more adept at handling the lane, imho.I see many on social media saying PK needs to play zone sometimes on defense or at least every once in a while.

i'll go the other way, if you're entire focus is to be great at the end of the season, these are all learning experiences for the players. they also need to figure out how to work it out themselves sometimes as timeouts could be limited.Sure couldn't hurt. Most likely they wouldn't use a match up zone, way to complicated to learn on the fly. I think throwing in a simple 2 - 3 or 1-3-1 would be effective. I'm sure all these guys have played some zone and know the rotations..Playing zone for the sake of it is not going to help. A good zone with length can really be a plus, but it's not easy to master.
I remember when Pitino started implementing the matchup zone and it was affective at times, but it will be difficult for this Louisville team with its lack of length on the perimeter, to be useful.
If Kelsey doesn't practice zone much then no way will it be beneficial to use it in games.
I've been wanting to see it for awhile. Besides giving guys a rest,it can be used to keep the offense off balance. Not the whole game but I wouldn't mind seeing Kelsey switch it around.I see many on social media saying PK needs to play zone sometimes on defense or at least every once in a while.

I wonder if he used zones much at all at Charleston? I agree a team needs to have some familiarity with playing zones.I've been wanting to see it for awhile. I just think we’re running into matchup problems and Kelsey has to be ready to adjust with different looks. Bout cost us today against a team that exposed those matchup issues.I wonder if he used zones much at all at Charleston? I agree a team needs to have some familiarity with playing zones.
