It doesn't take a super talent to score over players 5-7 inches shorter than you. He's a solid big man, but the issue more was the stubbornness to not switch the high ball screen after they kept setting it for the sole reason to get that switch.
Keeping the big man on him could've gotten him frustrated, as he whined and was very demonstrative after any foul or call went against him. Might've been the difference in a close game.

Bingo. You hit the nail on the head. Credit to them for taking advantage of the mismatch and thumbs down on the Cards for not doing anything to negate it. The few times our center stuck with Wagner he got stuffed or missed or had to pass.
Didn't we, once upon a time, employ a zone defense? After getting destroyed in the pick and roll all game, it seems like Rick might have tried the zone to change things up.
This team needed a 4 or 5 that could frace the basket and hit jumpshots. Hopefully that will be addressed with a couple of freshman coming in HOPEFULLY.

Cards will still need a true Center.
Maybe Ray can gain 25 pounds and pick up where Mangok left off.
Neither of the two can shoot a 15 footer. Rick said both needed to work on that tooinclude Johnson . Off season all need to get that shot in their games.
Ray has shot a foul jumper this yesr and last. Not a whoke lot.

None of these guys had a green light it seems.You need to keep defenses honest like throwing it deep in football.
This is it.Fight thru that screen(with Wagner) and keep switching everywhere else.
