Kentucky AD next to lead D1 hoops committee

He’s not allowed on the room when the decision on where to put Kentucky is made. Likewise, others on the committee are not in the room when their team is placed.
You will never find a straighter, by the book, fairer AD than Barnhart.
I was always mad when the committee made UK-UL face off in the tournament because I wanted a Kentucky school to win it.
In 2012 it would have been UK-UL in the championship. I believe UL would have beaten tOSU or Kansss that season.

So you’re saying that UofL will ALWAYS get a fair shake from Barnfart? Is that what you are saying? If so, I’ve got a bridge and a dry piece of land in Florida for you to purchase. What a joke. You are talking about a guy that hired a known drunk and another guy who is a known cheater. Plus a guy that had never been a head coach before who actually showed up on Barnfart’s door without actually being approached as a candidate for the job. Oh PULEESE!!! Next you’ll be telling all UofL fans that our wonderful legislature is going to give UofL as much money as they funnel into that “academic whirlwind” in lessington.

GO CARDS - BEAT EVERYBODY!!! God Bless America!!!

The problem is, Cal was never accused of anything.

Where was Cal accused of anything? That article, by the way, was not exactly factual and so full of bias as to make it laughable.
There is nothing in the article that is stated as fact...that is not indeed factual. Most of what he says is what most all of non-UK America THINKS about Cal’s past...including UK fans...before he became their coach. You can say it’s biased, but you can’t say it’s not factual.

Remember Cal’s comment when asked about Louisville’s situation with the prostitute. Cal said every Head Coach knows what is going on with his program even if he denies it.

Sure there is. He states as fact that Rose didnt take his SAT. That was never proven. Rise claims he did, the testing service voided his score without ever stating that Rose didnt take the test. They suspected he didnt and when he dudnt respond to letters sent to somewhere he no longer lived, they voided the score. The writer is weaving a tale of innuendo, you're better than that Steelers though I do like you posting.

I thought maybe the new guys would ban this clown. Give me the responsibility, I’ll be more than happy to.

Why ban someone who doesnt break the rules or pick fights or disrespect your team? Your hate of UK seems a bit over the top.
Doesn't pick fights? Have you read your own posts?
The way that you patrol these boards looking for any comment about Calipari, and then demand that we prove the comment to YOUR satisfaction is pretty consistent with the condition.
And if you, do, then please own up to it. We will go easier on you when we realize that you just cannot control yourself.

What a total dumb comment.
Given that there are a few thousand ADs in colleges across the country, I'll bet that, if I really wanted to invest my time in it, I probably could find more than one.

If you are totally ignorant about your behavior, you most likely have Asperger's Syndrome. The way that you patrol these boards looking for any comment about Calipari, and then demand that we prove the comment to YOUR satisfaction is pretty consistent with the condition.

Ask Steelers then. I dont pick fights. I might insist on accuracy and some might not like it but that isnt picking a fight.

Perhaps you don’t realize that the way that you come across in your “insistence of accuracy” is how you pick fights. Particularly, it’s your belief that you are right and everybody else is wrong.

No, I'm wrong all the time but I won't acquiesce when I'm right. For instance, Cal has never been accused of a major violation by the NCAA. Therefore, it's quite a stretch to label him a cheater. If there is a major violation out there im unaware of, I'll stop defending that position.

But program's under Calipari's leadership HAVE been accused, and found guilty, of violations. The whole point of the article is there has been "smoke" around Calipari, but there has never been proof of his involvement. "He’s never been personally implicated in any improprieties at his three high-profile college head-coaching stops, but scandal seems to follow him wherever he goes". So, while he can't be accurately labeled a cheater, he can be accurately labeled a suspected cheater in several instances.

I cant disagree with that.

BigBlueFanGa, I posted earlier a comment made by Calipari when he was asked about the Louisville situation involving the prostitute. Calipari said he believed that CRP knew about the situation because the Head Coach of every program knows what is going on in their programs.

According to that comment that would mean that Calipari knew about the violations at UMass and Memphis when he was the Head Coach. I have posted many times on here that I have a house in Louisville & Memphis so I was very familiar with the Memphis program when Calipari was here. Derrick Rose wasn’t the only basketball player under Calipari that was getting help under the table.

Well....Cal is still at UK. And every win at UK is still on the board from his era. Until then...I won't worry.

10 years ago it was "only a matter of time" before he gets brought down! Still waiting?? Oh wait...I forgot....its a $EC E$PN conspiracy to keep UK's program afloat for $$$ purposes!!!

And yes, Cal has had violations at other programs. Marcus Camby his junior year before the draft took money from an agent. That darn Cal...trying to get his Junior player he developed to take money to leave his program!

And oh that darn Cal...he forced the Simeon High School to alter 3 players on the state championship team's grades. 2 of which didn't even go to Memphis. And Cal taking the ACT for Derrick Rose. And that darn Cal, making Memphis report Rose's ACT score to the NCAA...such a cover-up! And letting Rose's brother fly on the plane. HOW DARE HE!

It pains me that my children have to witness such immoral behavior from a man like Calipari! I pray every night for his soul!

Look...spare us the sanctimonious spin on each of those situations. We all know each one of those can also be, and have been, spun to also imply Cal's player's obtained impermissible benefits. UK fans understandably NOW choose to believe Cal's positive spin on events at other programs and UK (Bledsoe) because he's your coach. But don't forget, we all read your fan's negative opinions of the same events under Cal's leadership before he became your coach. Don't get all snippy here because most other fan bases still don't necessarily buy what he is selling. We can all just agree to disagree.

I’m still waiting for sUcK fans to explain Calipari’s comments on CRP and the prostitute situation. Every Head Coach knows everything going on in his program.

Understood. One of Cals big failures, in my opinion, was his lack of oversight in his younger days. We'll never really know if he knew or not but I think his statement was just an easy dig at Pitino.

I'm a UK fan. Not a Calipari fan. He wins games at Kentucky. He won a title at Kentucky. He hasn't gotten Kentucky in any trouble...save Jay Z coming in our locker room...but I'm fine with that..

And I generally don't care about his legacy outside of UK. I pointed to the situations mentioned....and none of them were really to a point that bothered me as a person. I agree...he probably knew what was going on, and if he did it doesn't bother me. As for other fans and that 2008 Matt Jones tweet? That's not me. Matt isn't Kentucky.

I know how college athletics work. I grew up in Louisville and Hoptown and went through public schools. I've seen the athlete star treatment for grades. I can give you details about Mr. Basketball and Mr. Football's and how they were eligible for college. I can tell you how state championship team stayed eligible. (PM for details, not putting that in the open). And none of that had to do with UK or UofL. High level athletes that are in public schools are usually from low income families and athletics keep them straight. They come from no money and have a lot of bad people in their lives. Sometimes the basketball coaches at their school push their admin for better grades...pressure is applied. Sometimes an AAU coach will get their hands on money from outer space and are able to buy trips, hotel rooms, gear, meals, etc.

If he gets in trouble at UK, he gets in trouble and life goes on...not naive to college sports. It's the other fanbases that have gone after Cal for years and pretended that no other program has anything going on and Cal was the big bad boogeyman. But my spin is more about how it was "a matter of time" before the walls were going to close in and Cal's house of cards were going to fall apart. I'm still waiting. Pat Forde is the best in the biz....and he still hasn't found anything. And if something is found? I'll deal with it and move on.

You just never know what can go on in an athletic scandal. I mean who would've ever thought Joe Paterno would be covering up a child predator and allowed it to go on for years on his watch? We see these guys on TV and their best PR spin. We don't know them...I don't know Cal, Mack, Pitino, Stoops, Petrino, Coach K, Bob Knight....I can't speak to their personal lives.

Hmm, when it comes to crimes, do you listen to the police/prosecutors or is public opinion all you need?
If I hear my neighbors yelling at each other frequently and see the Mrs at that house with bruises on her face, I don't say, "well, he was never charged with abuse before, so I can't suspect something is wrong there."
Furthermore, I don't consider the NCAA to be an uncorrupted and ethical organization that is closely watches its member organization to make sure their behavior is proper and that they put the student athlete first at all times. The UNC academic scandal and Larry Nassar story tell me otherwise.

So, claiming that Cal is clean because the NCAA has never charged him with anything doesn't mean jack!

No one is clean that recruited great players. If you want clean, go watch a 10th region basketball game.

And clean means not a single player ever got a single benefit or favorable treatment ever. No grade was every changed or extra "tutoring" in high school was given to a player to help them out in high school. Never given a meal by a random person. No hotel room covered. No gear and hotel provided by an unknown AAU sponsor. Man, all these Jordan's popped into my locker...where did they come from? No help from an agent behind the scenes. No $100 handshake from a random guy on a campus visit.

And we live in a society that emphasizes...work hard or get lost. Basketball players really don't have options to help themselves. Most of them grow up poor. The NBA say they have to go to college. The G-League isn't great money to survive on considering the length of a basketball career isn't long. Minor league and college baseball players usually come from better off families...they can support that life. Basketball players generally have to go to college.

They make those colleges millions of dollars, yet they don't anywhere near what they deserve as far as compensation. It's not the coaches fault...off the grid markets emerge when there's a flaw in the system. Those shoe agents are just providing those kids with what the market says they deserve. The NCAA is hypocritical yes, but the NBA and NBAPA created that rule. The NBA under-funds the G-League. The NCAA technically doesn't have investigative power or any law enforcement authority. They can't force people to go under oath.

It's a flawed system. I watch a game and assume every player in a P5 game has gotten some sort of help...I don't say they aren't clean, because that implies they are dirty kids...and that adds a racial element I don't like towards young black men...who seem to get the short end of the stick in this situation. They're good kids that play hard and give us a great show every March..forced into rough situations to survive.

If one has personal knowledge to the contrary, you're right, but I don't think you do.
