I can’t say I disagree…but man this sucks. This kid is going to be a stud smhEveryone was griping about CJB not using the TEs enough.
Guess he agrees
It’s today’s game.I can’t say I disagree…but man this sucks. This kid is going to be a stud smh
Geez 🙄 I wonder who paid for his knee surgery and rehab? GTFO 🤬Anybody have intel in this??? To me it doesn’t really make a whole lot of sense.
We should get reimbursed. Let his new school pay for his injuries. Ingrate…..Geez 🙄 I wonder who paid for his knee surgery and rehab? GTFO 🤬
The entire NIL system has zero leadership. These conference commissioners have done zero to protect their institutions. The institutions complain but as long as their TV check comes in all good. They have allowed the players to control the narrative. We should get reimbursed. Let his new school pay for his injuries. Ingrate…..
I agree he is entering the market at a disadvantage. With that said I question the evaluation process of these teams with big budgets. It maybe a Godfather scenario make him an offer he can’t refuse. I don’t get it. He has 13 catches for 158 yds and he is coming off an injury.Jamari was probably my biggest personnel pet and I think he is destined to be a great player; it should be pointed out that our competition to sign him wasn't the Southern California schools, it was Oregon. I believe his family relocated from Pittsburgh to Inglewood in high school and his mom is an educator.
Being hurt in the seventh game he has a handful of very impressive highlights so in a weird way someone can offer him an NIL bump but almost at a bargain. I really hope he reconsiders.
Jamari's situation is not dissimilar to the concerns over Lacey's leaving; you didn't have alot of Caullin film at Louisville in four games, but the film you had showed some big time plays--the TD return against Miami, the huge catches against Notre Dame, the two third down catch-and-run to the sticks conversions at Virginia. In Jamari's case, the 29 yard seam route that showed great athleticism for a TE against Notre Dame and the middle screen against what I think was Georgia Tech or SMU that sprung for a big gainer but was called back due to ineligible men downfield. Those two plays in particular showed he wasn't some garden variety plodder out of the tight end position.I agree he is entering the market at a disadvantage. Fascinated to see where he goes. Has to be a brand school.
I would be surprised if either come here. Klare is going to visit Texas. Good luck matching their offer if they really want him. Not sold on Louisville being able to pay both Moss and Robinson. We are hopefully getting a committment from the #8 transfer in the country, Purdue TE Max Klare. That may be why Johnson decided to transfer.
There is also the USC TE Duce Robinson who may be linked to the QB. Hes a 5-star recruit and a lot of scouts consider him more of a WR than a TE. He was one of Moss's favorite targets.
Not saying you're wrong, but Klare has some history with Brohm. It makes sense he's leaving Purdue, they didn't win a lot of games and consequently no exposure. Yes, Texas and the SEC has more money but each player still has to consider playing time so the question becomes do I get more NIL money to go sit behind someone like Helm, who is a senior and semifinalist for John Mackey award or do I go play for someone he knows will get him a chance to play right away and at least have an opportunity for more money and playing professionally?I would be surprised if either come here. We will see. The SEC has FU money Louisville just has money. Louisville is the small market team that has to moneyball the shit of this. It is threading a needle.
An example the QB from freaking North Texas who is garbage, rumor is he asking 1M. North Texas had a really good offense his numbers are good but he isn’t P4 level. Moss is easily in the 3-4M range.
Johnson to Oregon would be my guess. They lose Ferguson.
How do we know what these guys are getting paid? I suspect it is less than we think. Also, there’s more to a job than just money. What if these guys have an inkling they may not make the league and actually like the place they’re at for, dare I say it, academic reasons? Let’s say they like their professors, like their majors, like the continuity, like their coaches, the community, etc? Is it always that kids are total mercenaries? How much more can they actually pull? There has to be more to these decisions than “a few dollars more”.The system forces kids into seeing their value. On top of that their athletic window is small. 95 percent won’t go pro. Really the smartest thing to do is hit the portal every year. Now the trick is you have to produced but if you are productive hit the portal. No different than jobs it doesn’t pay to be loyal. You never maximize your value.
Kevin Coleman has played it about as good as you could. Jackson St-Louisville-Miss St-new place. He has increased his value each time. Hailey Van Lith played it pretty well too.
To your point going to Texas may not be the right move because his production may decrease. Which hurts him in the next cycle. Louisville actually could add value because he would be more productive therefore more leverage in the next cycle. It still is $$$ game.
I have an alternate take...what if you are reasonably sure you're not going to play Pro Football or play at a professional level regardless of sport. That's exactly what Van Lith did, maximizing her earning potential in college because when it's all said and done she is a 5"7 not exactly athletic shooting guard. If there is some sort of 3v3 league maybe she can earn off that, but moving forward she's not somebody that will have a career in the WNBA and her LSU stint made that abundantly clear. How do we know what these guys are getting paid? The amount doesn’t matter what we do know they are making $$$. The owner of Barstool basically said they spent millions to get the freshman QB. Johnny football said they told Texas A&M his price was 2M-3M to keep him. The fact is it is a money decision. How do we know what these guys are getting paid? I suspect it is less than we think. Let’s say it’s 1 million vs 1.2 million. Let’s also say you are very likely to start next season and you really like where you are. I guess some would jump for that, but if that’s the basis of a decision I’m not sure I want that guy for a teammate. The amount doesn’t matter what we do know they are making $$$. When 90 percent of the SEC transfers that matter end up at another SEC school money is the deciding factor at least for the kids entering the portal.
Look at SEC basketball all of sudden they are dominating. Wonder why?
I don’t think they are all mercenaries but I think a high percentage are and I don’t blame them. Van Lith isn’t play pro but she has been very smart on maximizing this small window. Same with Johnson let’s say the difference was only 50K he still in a good spot for his skill while making more money.
Are you referring to Scourton...one thing that made it likely he was going to A&M is that he was from Texas. And I will add this...had we had Scourton that would have been a talent that would have equated to another win or multiple wins on the schedule. He's a projected Top 15 pick.Keep in mind the DE from Purdue last year same scenario but he never made it out of College Station.
