I don’t think anything surprises with the portal. You just don’t know the offers these kids are getting. He gets an offer better than what he currently has coming of an injury. That makes no sense to me.
I am not surprised we hardly used our tight ends why stay somewhere where you aren’t included in the system?
Besides Penn St-Iowa who really throws a ton to their tight ends? At most 7-8 targets a game. He was starting to get more and more involved up till his injury,
Warren at Penn St and the kid a BG are the best TE’s in the country. They both get around 5 catches a games.
It sucks because he was coming around into his own. His value was in the run blocking he was becoming a good blocker. The offense is going to be good without him.
Love to see what happens with him. I bet it is no different than here.

The entire NIL system has zero leadership. These conference commissioners have done zero to protect their institutions. The institutions complain but as long as their TV check comes in all good. They have allowed the players to control the narrative.
The school can’t do anything because optically it would look horrible.
A school can’t go rogue changing the NIL to only compensate for games played. Everyone in the market place would have to follow suit which isn’t going to happen. With zero guideline and decisions at the school level you have chaos.
Jamari was probably my biggest personnel pet and I think he is destined to be a great player; it should be pointed out that our competition to sign him wasn't the Southern California schools, it was Oregon. I believe his family relocated from Pittsburgh to Inglewood in high school and his mom is an educator.
Being hurt in the seventh game he has a handful of very impressive highlights so in a weird way someone can offer him an NIL bump but almost at a bargain. I really hope he reconsiders.

Entering the Portal does not necessarily mean he leaves; it could be a way to do what virtually every single HS Senior and College player is doing ……testing the market.

I agree he is entering the market at a disadvantage. With that said I question the evaluation process of these teams with big budgets. It maybe a Godfather scenario make him an offer he can’t refuse. I don’t get it. He has 13 catches for 158 yds and he is coming off an injury.

Jamari's situation is not dissimilar to the concerns over Lacey's leaving; you didn't have alot of Caullin film at Louisville in four games, but the film you had showed some big time plays--the TD return against Miami, the huge catches against Notre Dame, the two third down catch-and-run to the sticks conversions at Virginia. In Jamari's case, the 29 yard seam route that showed great athleticism for a TE against Notre Dame and the middle screen against what I think was Georgia Tech or SMU that sprung for a big gainer but was called back due to ineligible men downfield. Those two plays in particular showed he wasn't some garden variety plodder out of the tight end position.

And this is the thing, he committed here under Satt and it was solely for NIL. He didn't come here for Brohm or love of the program. He's also injured and we don't know the time table on his recovery. He wants a big bag of cash. Jeff wants a healthy tight end and doesn't think it's worth it to put their money on a guy like him.

2. like 5-6 guys in the secondary. We have to get a whole new room
3. REplacing what like 7-10 guys in the front 7
4. 1-2 Offensive linemen
Plus a lot of depth pieces. Paying him the money he wants to not produce when we have other needs just isn't the plan.

Every team in the country is going through this Arkansas has over 25 players in the portal. All of the teams in the SEC and B1G have players in the portal. If your coach is able to work the portal ( which I think ours is ) we should be able to get some good players.
We are hopefully getting a committment from the #8 transfer in the country, Purdue TE Max Klare. That may be why Johnson decided to transfer.
There is also the USC TE Duce Robinson who may be linked to the QB. Hes a 5-star recruit and a lot of scouts consider him more of a WR than a TE. He was one of Moss's favorite targets.

I would be surprised if either come here. Klare is going to visit Texas. Good luck matching their offer if they really want him. Not sold on Louisville being able to pay both Moss and Robinson.
We will see. The SEC has FU money Louisville just has money. Louisville is the small market team that has to moneyball the shit of this. It is threading a needle.
An example the QB from freaking North Texas who is garbage, rumor is he asking 1M. North Texas had a really good offense his numbers are good but he isn’t P4 level. Moss is easily in the 3-4M range.
Johnson to Oregon would be my guess. They lose Ferguson.
