Listening to the radio this afternoon in the car...Listening to Valvano. I myself have been listening to a lot of radio this week and I found this very, very interesting.

All the Kentucky fans that call in (calling in about the University of Louisville mind you) were crying to Bob Valvano that he is the only one they listen to or call anymore, because all the other Louisville centrist radio hosts are so mean to them when they call in....he gives them time to rant about their opinions of the situation at UofL. Why would a UK fan want to call into a Louisville radio show anyway??

They all cry about the radio stations namely 93.9 and 680 being so pro UofL.

Two horrendous words. Matt. Jones.

UK fans get butt hurt because there are pro UofL stations IN LOUISVILLE and they have Matt Jones who has made a living off putting down anything Louisville, University or City.

In their minds its not ok for Louisville have pro UofL radio shows but it's ok for them to have Matt Jones.

They are one odd fanbase.

Matt Jones lives in Louisville and has said many times how much he loves the city.

UL, not so much.

He's a douchebag plain and simple. I don't care if he loves Paris in springtime...

Pressure needs to be put on R&R (esp. Ramsey) in their new time slot. Along with Howie, those guys need to use their influence to get WKRD in line. All U of L all the time. And one guy can't get it done.

I'll add something to that. It pisses me off that Valvano buddies with Mike Pratt. Do I think Pratt is a bad guy? No I don't. But Valvano is a UL radio color guy and he would never be afforded that opportunity on a Lexington station. Nor would any UK affiliated employee give him that chance.

You guys crack me up...as a individual not born and here because I'm from a military family, I consider myself an "outsider" to this area. Having moved to Kentucky in 1991 because of college, I believe I have. a very objective take on this. There was no real UofL sports radio that I listened to because it was UK sports all the time. UofL had briel glimpses because of Denny and Howard. Fast forward to the past 15 years and the the rise of UofL and UK on the national scene. Show like the Afternoon Underdogs. And others on 680, 790. 840 and others have brought UofL tot the forefront so we can talk and listen on UofL. Bot over top arrogant BBN want UK all day...every hour of the day just shows how they a** clowns they are. Remember...the only reason why 790 was created because 840 sold their soul to BBN money. So even though you have "pro louisville" shows, these shows still talk about UK. So, guys like Vanetti or Matty Jones can entertain the fan bases and not be objective about either school. As far as I see it, UK fans are delusional and UofL fans have chip of the shoulder. This recent scandal proves this. UK better pray nothing is found on them.

Also, it seems like Valvano fawns over Pratt and the show takes a distinct UK turn. Pratt loves to bring up the "good old days" of UK sports and Valvano just agrees and stuffs his pie hole with Mr. Delivery food and talk about how tasty it is...

I don't see anything wrong with Tony or Valvano showing some respect. In fact, that's the very thing Matt Jones is often criticized for on this board. You really can't have it both ways. I think UL has really good media guys with lots of different personalities. At UK, there has really become 1 guy and then everyone else.

The problem with Bob is that he agrees with every guest while disagreeing with the callers on the same side of the subject.

What he doesn't like about Mr. Jurich is that he protects the UofL Brand. Something a lot of the reporters just don't want to try to understand. If they pulled some of the reporting and backhanded comments about a private company, they would have been sued to the poor house.

They don't respect UofL enough to give it credit at times that it has earned. But let it be one of the "traditional ones" and the benefit given is so undeserving.

Valvano lost a lot of listeners this week. I couldn't believe how many people I know that actually listened to him. All of them said, "That's it for me. I done with Valvano."
