Impact of COVID on upcoming season?

I wonder how many of our players, and how many 1st/2nd string players, are fully vaccinated? Kiffin just bragged that he has his team 100% vaccinated. We can't afford to have players missing games for Covid, especially if teams we're playing don't have that issue.
No clue on vac #'s of players I know a few pros publicly say they ain't getting it. Suspect colleges have a system in place for testing etc just unsure of the rules. Seems I recall game cancelations last year but that was pre vac of course.
At the rate the spread is growing I am concerned about this season becoming a rerun of last. Case counts exploding in Jefferson County, Lexington and Bowling Green.
The state of Tennessee is horrendous in case count, as is Mississippi and Florida.
Word from the SEC is if a team does not have enough healthy players (50? 56?)

One HUGE problem, even some of those vaccinated are coming up positive and even many are ending up in hospitals. So if the ACC continues their continuing testing of athletes (even those vaxed), it's another cluster muck in CFB.

This is disappointing to read. Getting vaxed means everything these days. It's why these non-vaxers who are on their death beds from Covid proclaim "I should have gotten vaccinated." Yes, you can still test positive after getting vaxed. But your symptoms are milder, and the chances of transmitting are greatly reduced. I know this will likely turn into a debate. It's impossible to break through logically to anti vaxers and maskers, so, this concludes my thoughts on the matter. Get vaxed!

No vax and no mask here, period. I respect anyone who wants to be vaxed or wear a mask. But respect my choice at the same time. If you are that worried, wear 2 or 3 masks, or just stay home in your bubble. My body likes fresh air, and I refuse to inject myself with something that isn't a vaccination at all other than label for political purposes, nor is it FDA approved. It's also had more adverse reactions than all other vaccines world wide since sometime around 1970 or earlier. But by all means, fall in line if you so choose.
Yeah I'm just wondering if games will get cancelled and/or players will be forced to sit out. I don't watch a lot of TV not really keeping up with how the CFB world plans on handling the Delta issue, it seems #'s are spiking in some states.

Ahhh shit. I see a repeat of last year's restricted attendance, based on the rapidly rising infection rates and the resistance to vaccinating and/or wearing a mask.
I don’t have a problem wearing mask even though I don’t think it’s that effective on slowing down the virus. As for getting a shot of something that was developed in 6 months, no thanks. It’s way to early for me.
My body my choice. That seemed to be the rally cry for pro abortion folks. And, I recall seeing K. Harris saying if Trump has anything to do with the vaccine then I am not taking it. I agree with Kamala.

For perspective, I'm a health care worker and spent a significant amount of time in the Covid ward at the hospital I work (my normal duties were on pause, so I was helping anyway I could and that consisted of me doing PPE assistance for the ICU Dr's and Nurses)...also, I am a scientist by training and my title is Physiologist (if anybody cares).
With regards to this virus, we have a cure...and the cure is in it's prevention...much like the prevention of many other conditions, a change in lifestyle or vaccinations is required; this means the cure is dependent on the action from individuals for it to work.
I can't weigh in on the science behind mRNA techniques (it's not my specialty) and I can't weigh in on the efficacy of lifestyle modifications to reduce the spread of a virus (also, not my specialty); but I do appreciate the knowledge and professionalism of those who are specialist in mRNA techniques and in virology. In short, I trust the guidance of these professionals. My hope is that people understand the limits of their own understanding and restore trust the people who have the understanding, in my mind that is the specialists.
I will not be engaging in any virus debate within this forum (FB is completely on the table), just sharing my perspective.

I had my vaccine, but due to various severe allergies (think carrying an epidural pen 24/7 just in case) my wife is not a good candidate for vaccination.
I have had several relatives....cousins, as well as acquaintances contract Covid, and one spent close to 10 weeks in hospital (others barely slowed down).
If a person chooses to vaccinate, I respect that. If they dont, I respect that as well. Some studies now show that vaccinated people carry the virus even though they may not realize it....a man made asymptomatic spreader group.

Anyone who doesn't see that the covid virus has been politicized is just not paying attention. Had Trump remained President, it would be the exact opposite from the media. Masks would be shown to be the absurd idea to stop microscopic pathogens. The vaccines would be as dangerous as getting the virus because they were rushed into service.
The media would be reporting all the cases of people getting sick despite getting the vaccine and the people who had negative responses to the vaccine. Everything would be the exact opposite of today.
We're not talking about the bubonic plague here. The survival rate of covid 19 and its variants is 99 percent. It is a perfect storm for a authoritarian government to impose their will over the citizenry and they're not ready to relinquish that power. Not until they get their fundamental transformation of America completed.
All of this will be obvious in the near future and a whole hell of a lot of people will be praying there's no long tern effects of these experimental and unapproved vaccines.

I tend to rely on peer reviewed scientific research to inform my decision making. To do otherwise would be the equivalent of Satterfield coming on here to figure out a playbook.

It’s clear that the vaccines are effective at greatly reducing illness related to COVID. I don’t even think they should be testing players this season, as they are at an age where severe illness is much less likely.

There’s one sentence in your rambling goofy post that has any semblance of truth and that’s the first one.
My personal favorite is the q-anon like wacko promise of “all of this will be obvious in the near future”. We’ll all be waiting for this incredible revelation that’s coming but of course never comes, just like when high level guilty people threaten to sue.

Real: your stated expressions reflect my opinions as well. I had Covid back in November at 71 years of age. I quarantined for 3 weeks, but aside from significant fatigue, I can honestly say I never really felt ill, as flu like symptoms were virtually non existent. I got vaccinated, but I do not encourage others ”to do as I do”, but rather make their own decisions.
I came on this site over a year ago encouraging folks to watch the Sweden model; as they took a completely different approach than their neighbors Norway and Denmark, both of which shut down like the US. Sweden experienced positive tests and subsequent death. However, despite the differences in their responses; Sweden percentages of positive tests, hospitalization and death statistics were about the same as Denmark and Norway.
Lastly, at one time I saw an obscure report that compared the total number of US deaths in 2017, 2018, 2019 against 2020; interestingly, the numbers in 2020 were about the same and in some instances actually lower. While I cannot attest to accuracy to those reports, the fact that very few news sites reported either of these two (2) anecdotal but relevant reports, it does suggest the political pressure in our country is more about indoctrination rather than providing balance in information.

Tony was advocating that wearing mask was not effective, before he was recommending mask mandates. People who do not believe Fauci and some of those in this government have reasonable cause for distrust in both the information and the mandates.
Personally, I trust the vaccine and I will wear a mask whenever it makes those around me more comfortable, but I also believe in personal freedom and support those who follow their own decisions on health care.

The numbers you saw were inaccurate because they were incomplete. Deaths in the US in 2020 were up 18.8% over 2019. Covid drove a large part of this.

I have talked to so many people who are skeptical about the danger of the virus mainly based on the actions of the Democrat party. We are told that the virus is deadly and it is getting worse. We are told that we need to be vaccinated multiple times and get booster shots numerous times.
Some places are requiring people to wear multiple mask at the same time. We are told that if we do not follow these marching orders we will lose some of our freedoms. All this and at the same time the Democrats refuse to shut the Southern border. So they are letting thousands of people enter our country illegally on a weekly bases and at the same time redistributing them around our country. All this and at the same time these people are refusing to take the vaccine but it’s ok for them to do so but not us. Excuse our skepticism about the dangers of the virus.
