Yesterday’s games had most of the talking heads moaning and groaning about how transfers totally changed these games, and that changes “had” to come. They were discussing one (1) springtime, after season, transfer period.

TV charges LOT of money for advertising in these games, and if viewership falls due to lousy, boring games? Well….

Money always wins, and TV has the money. Sure they have the whole regular season, but They will not give up 4-6 weeks of post season advertising for players benefit. They care less about the players than these “greedy” schools some speak of.

Somebody/thing has to get some kind of control over this, and the deepest pockets always win.

Time will tell. JMHO

PS:
The worst part of it so far to me?

As bad as the ACC is perceived now, these games are proving, so far, that our (acc) 2nd, 3rd, and 4th stringers aren’t as good as the other conferences.

There has to be more rules and restrictions. I have no idea what that looks like but it has to be done. You're right, with all the taking heads weighing in on it there will be a change sooner rather than later and TV is not going to be the loser..

I was going to make my own post to ask the group a question but if you don’t mind I will Segway my question from you. What was you guys reaction to hearing that George’s quarterback is opting out for the rest of the season. I know they said he was having surgery but do you think there was shenanigans going and he should’ve disclosed it before the final rankings? Or do you have think that with them winning the SEC it wouldn’t have mattered? Either way I think it is wild for a guy to opt out when you’re team has a shot at winning the National Championship.

Beck’s surgery provides one of the very few legitimate reasons for opting out; even with a 2nd string quarterback, they are favored over ND and quite capable of winning yet another NC.

The players better be careful. College athletes people can relate to them. The day fans lose a connection with players is the day people stop watching. The NBA is starting to lose viewers because the players aren’t connecting with fans. Fans spend a lot of money to see players play not sit on the sideline.

I think what Ward pulled will be the end of NFL kids playing in bowl games. Even if you have all the insurance in the world you just don’t pay the game the same way. For the love of God who is advising him. Don’t freaking play people understand that but to quit at halftime. Cam Ward doesn’t care what people say about him but he will get destroyed for the next week. If I am a GM hell no I am not spending a day one pick on a guy that quits at halftime. The most important position on the field.

How the NFL handles Ward in the draft will be fascinating. They could send a message but teams are that disciplined when picking QB’s.
