GLARING recruiting need.

It's weird that we don't get some of the top o-lineman, but we need to...that's where it starts. And I haven't been impressed with Coach Klenakis for awhile, now.

Nobody's "happy" with anything. But like me, you're responsible for what you post. If you're engaging in an emotional, nonsensical rant, don't complain when others point out how ridiculous that is...

You said more there than you realize.

even in wins, I have made it clear that we need a power running game and a short game. I have pointed out the Quick wouldnt start for western Kentucky because he is afraid to extend his arms past his body to catch a ball.

We have had Klenakis in control of the Oline for 3 years. But, yet we cant feild a compatent line? We cant feild a line that can simply stand up. Who are we grooming for center next season? will he be able to avoid the false starts like our current center?

Can our offensive guru recognize blitz and call a game to thawt the blitz? you know TE screens, WR quick slants, RB float and up/ wheels?

WE RAN 4 WHEEL PLAYS 2 WERE SUCESSFUL AND WE ABANDONDED IT. (IT WAS WORKING) Last night we were looking for the home run when the bunt and hit for first base with outs and slants was there all night.

Our Defensive Coordinator has a boner for the blitz and I can scheme against him in my sleep. Hold the ball for two counts allow the louisville front to advance and throw over their heads. (now you are in the secon level)

EMOTION @zipp I wish our coaches had some emotion rather than the deer in the headlights look on their faces all game. Just like rutgers our Guru had the hand on his chin, lost in the sauce. There is no excuse to look that terrible in a game. Especially as the #5 team in the country.

That line is an embarrasment to organized football and this is year freakin three.

So, yes, I post with emotion. There are people who root for this university that deserve to see a team display effort and emotion. Coming out of the tunnel we had no emotion, or juice.

Then we had a butt fumble.

I do not know how fans of this team can be sunshine pumpers in this hour looking at what our team displayed.

Many of you here would be happy if we still had kragthorpe.

Bobby needs to man up and fire klanakis immediately. Then maybe top linemen will have a desire to give us a sniff. Otherwise get used to being abused by mediocre programs and forget about being a playoff team.

so Zipp, you are right, I am emotional. I want the line coaches head on a damn stick. That was piss poor, and unacceptable football, but not louisville fans like zipp. it was a great performance by a great line. Kudos to the oline says zipp.

sunshine pump all you want, but as we blitz UK and they burn it. smile and pat the blitz happy DC coach on his back. tell him good job.

As UK blitz our oline and our oline falls down and looks lost, go pat klenakis on the back and tell him good job.

we were exposed last night, and like it or not, more of it is coming.

question is will the fans be the only ones emotional, or will someone light a fire under this lost team.

The point is you don't know anything for sure. You say it's coaching, but that's an opinion. In time, you MIGHT know. You know more now than you did about a coach when he started three years ago. But where were your comments last year or the last game? Same coach.

Qualify what you say, much more so if it's criticism vs. compliments. You might think everyone knows that's just your opinion, but we're not sure if YOU recognize that. Say it...

wtf?

have you read any of my posts here from games past?

if so, you would know that quick is terrible and should not be on this team, we need a center that can snap without false starting, and we need compatent linemen.

how you are not upset at last nights crap show is beyond me. that is unacceptable.

I don't ever get "upset" and suggest that you try not to. You're not gonna think clearly in that state.

But you don't for sure most of what you say. That's not sunshine pumping or making excuses; that's about you...

Did the Cards even get a sniff at this in-stateplayer?

Jedrick Wills is a 6-5, 300-pound Offensive Tackle from Lexington, KY. ... 247Sports Take: Alabama lands a violent lineman in Wills. ... Alabama’s new commit Jedrick Wills is one of the best prospects at the point of attack in the country.
didnt know we had 5 star player in the state of ky. Wish we could have had him for a visit. I wonder what Mike Cassity is up to these days.

it is hard to not get upset when so much was at stake and none of our kids showed emotion or desire to compete, and the coaches are on the sideline rubbing their chin lost like a deer in headlights.

when a team blitz you like that, one would thing we would simply throw over or around it with speed. we didnt.

one would think after they burn our blitz for the 10 time grantham would lay off, but he dint until we were down 31.

so forgive me if I want to field a team capable of at least standing up.

Will somebody please tell me where I can go watch a HS FB team in Ky play before 40,000+ screaming hometown fans so I can observe proficiency in performing the silent snap count

Hell, even T and X had barely half that amount this year....so where are those 40K games being played at? Inquiring minds want to know.

Hyberbole run amuck amid the agony of emotionalism over a FB game. Who knew?!!!

You were dealing 1-5 , but the rest of it is you being pissed off because fans are pissed off.

How any louisville fan can be happy about our line play last night is amazing. Shaenee high school in its last 1000 games have lost 900 plus of them, but their linemen run a silent count better than the #5 team in the country.

So for any louisville fan that believe klenakis is a solid coach, show me how you come to that conclusion....

3 years in and we are a fart in the wind in downtown chicago.
I'm not pissed off about you or anyone else being pissed off. I'm not about telling you how to be a fan as I appreciate the same latitude - particularly when we disagree.

I was being sarcastic to highlight what I think is the absurdity in some of the posts on this thread. I'm not happy with the way the entire team played last night however calling for a coach to be immediately fired and players to have their jerseys taken from them are in my opinion ridiculous and, somewhat childish.

'Real' programs - 'Big Boy' programs don't behave in that fashion. They figure it out and move forward. There is precisely 1 team in all of CFB that has to this point proven that they are immune to playing poorly and being beaten - the rest are susceptible to bad matchups and performances less than their best.

Seemingly lost in your comments is the fact that UH is a really good team and Herman is a really good coach. I'd be willing to bet that absent all of the chatter of him going either to LSU or TX, that team is undefeated. I wonder how many UH fans wanted coaches fired or players booted after they lost to smu? Or closer to home - same question about FSU fans after we embarrassed them?

For the sake of this argument, I am the guy in this video saying fire Klanakis and you are the old woman saying shut up. lol

In all honesty, if any team played like our offense last night, I would question the coaches, but for it to be my team, it hurst, it is embarrasing, and I would like to hope we never play that unprepared ever again.

I would seek a coordinator that specializes in offensive line play and make him a priority. This team is a few linemen away from not only being undefeated, but playing for a championship.

I personally can not take anyone defending Klanakis seriously. He has had 3 years and we cant even stand up on the field, let alone block.

I will not ever understand how he could possibly still be a part of this team.

Your desire for CK to be fired would resonate with me more if there were objective facts and numbers to back them up. Here's what is real / factual -

1. 4th in CFB in pts / game - 46
2. 4th in CFB in yds / game - 558.5
3. 20th in rushing yds / game - 255
4. 38th in passing yds / game - 303.5

Those numbers include the game against Houston. It simply makes no sense to say that our OL is "unable to block or stand up" - the numbers tell otherwise. Additionally those statistics have gone up in each of the three years since BP (et al) have been back. You post as if we are 2-9 and are unable to do anything offensively.

Simply put, your rhetoric does not square up with the record.

The Cards offered, but it came down to Bama and SuCkS as his final two.
Go to Bama-redshirt, sit for two yrs, finally get PT as a junior while winning
multiple Championships.

Go to SuCkS-start on a team who aspirations are 6-6, should end up 4-8 as the
rest of the SEC gets better

Come to UofL, start right away , help lead UofL to a potential ACC championship.

5 stars don't think they're going to sit - even in Gumpland. And whether we like it or not, UofL is not yet one of those programs that many kids outside of the city dream about playing for.

ACC membership and the continuation of the trajectory that was re-established by CS and taken to the next level by BP will change that. It just takes time. Meanwhile we are staring a double digit win year and hopefully, another NY6 bowl square in the face.

I'd say those are champagne problems.

Rager, what I was looking for is a reply like one of my friends is on the coaching staff, or Mike Singer told me privately, or I'm a high school coach who interacts occasionally with U of L coaches.

No, I got into it with a guy who "follows recruiting". Well gee whiz, I'm impressed. And like most people in a rant, he doesn't couch his comments as "I think" or "in my opinion"...No, he comes out ready to take someone's head off for poor recruiting that, in reality, he likely doesn't have a clue about. He's just PO'd.

Like I tell people who post in a rage... You're free to make your comments. And I'm free to comment on your comments. This street runs two ways...

I'm getting concerned about how many times I'm liking BPGhost's posts nowadays. Has anyone seen the guy lately? :D

All you and your type do is sign up for a premium membership and fancy yourself a recruiting expert. You "follow" info on the internet, and act like that info is rock solid. You don't say "I THINK we may have recruiting issues BASED ON WHAT I READ." No, you're a freakin' recruiting expert at the ready when you're overcome with emotion to smear people making ten times more money than you do and working fifty times harder to identify good recruits.

But carry on, because I know how credible you are...

Once again, know it all Zipp shows himself to be a know it all imbecile. I'm not a premium member anywhere. You must really love the taste of shoe leather considering how many times you get that foot in the mouth.

Again, you have nothing but insults and diversions. You can't address facts that are posted. Typical loser MO that you've always used. You still haven't refuted anything I said, much less even directly addressed them. So answer the questions. You happy with year 5 having an OL class of three 2 stars and two 3 stars or should we be getting 4 stars and at least some consideration from an occasional 5 star? I'll hang up and listen while you insult, and divert.

Not trying to get in the middle of your pissing contest here but just out of curiosity, what do you attribute the lack of quality (at least on paper) OL recruiting? Who's fault is it specifically and, what exactly should be done about it? I

I'll say that from the outside looking in, it does appear that OL recruiting gets less attention than skill positions particularly if you're using the services ratings of the players UofL is in on. That said, it's also true that BP has recruited 2 stars that have had good NFL careers. Perhaps BP's views OL like the NFL looks at RBs - a few great ones with the rest being a dime a dozen.

The blame goes to the coaching staff in general, but in particular to the coach that recruits that position. Everyone occasionally finds a diamond in the rough. (Remember than skinny QB from Michigan that the Patriots got in the 6th round?) But all in all, the talent shows itself early on.

As I've said, let look at UofLs OL commits for next year. Three 2 stars, and two 3 stars. Average at very best. Now lets look at the top 4 contenders for the title this year and their O line commits:

Louisville: 5 commits: Three 2 stars. Two 3 stars.

Bama: 5 commits. One 3 star. Two 4 stars. Three 5 stars (including one from Ky)

OSU: 2 commits, both 5 stars

Michigan: 5 commits. Four 3 stars. One 4 star.

Clemson. 3 commits. Two 3 stars. One 4 star.

This is just a 1 year snapshot of teams that are already loaded. We know that Michigan and Clemson have had more than their fair share of 4-5 stars over the last few years. We're NOT loaded, and we have 2 and 3 stars waiting in the wings. Don't see a step forward there.

When their worst is better than our best, the difference between Legitimate contenders and the second tier becomes obvious. Our line makes us second tier.

I'll put our skill players against their skill players any day of the week. Houston, Duke and UVA showed the price for not putting the same emphasis on getting a good line as with skill players. Skill players can't do much when your heisman leading QB gets sacked 11 times in one game.

I am a huge fan of UofL and believer in their ability to compete year in and year out for ACC titles and higher. Given that, I feel the need to highlight that at this point if you are comparing our recruiting to Alabama (Saban), osu (Meyer), Michigan (Harbaugh) and Clemson (Swinney) - you are setting yourself up for disappointment.

I think that BP is awesome but let's be real - he came back here with a lot of baggage and that affects recruiting. As much as I think that he is a better X & O coach than 2 of those guys - they and there schools have built in advantages over BP and UofL at this point. UofL simply has to continue to work hard and win games. The recruits will come.

BP we have a solid difference of opinion. You love numbers, I love the eye test. I personally do noT believe our offensive line (all of your pretty numbers included) pass the eye test. I believe this for one reason.

We are not able to run the ball.

2016-2017 season..........

Tell me one game you have seen us line up and hand it off to the running back and feel like our line covered their assignments and the RUNNING BACKS got off........

For this guru of an offensive line coach, why are we guilty of so many holding penalties?
What is he teaching as far as technique to help our guys sustain and engage blocks?

Why are our splits never equal. (distance between linemen)
a good DC would simply look at tape and blitz the largest gap because they cheat it wider where we are running the ball. (HOUSTON DID IT WELL) A good line has the same splits every play and has no tells where it is running the ball. Our Guru knows nothing about this concept.

I have a belief that he may be a good guy. Kids may even like him, some fans as well, even some nice numbers.

But when you break it down and see it for what it is, his technique is not reaching the kids, and our line has been lost for 3 years and there is no reprieve in sight with this guy coaching the line, no matter what the pretty numbers say.

KLENAKIS NEEDS TO BE WHACKED

True to a certain extent, but the skill players are coming. We have the Heisman frontrunner. Just got a verbal from the #2 rated RB in Florida. Overflowing with talented WR's. Grantham is getting it done on defense. They're just about in reload mode. Sheldon Rankins was awesome last year and the #12 overall pick in the draft. Brown stepped right into that spot at NT and you can't tell the difference. Recruited so many good LB's that Keith Brown wound up leaving for WKU. Alexander is only a soph and is already one of the better corners in the nation.

Kind of hard to explain all that away using the Petrinos baggage theory. Petrinos last issues were about 6 years ago. High school players today were in elementary or middle school. They know what they see now.

I hate it that I have to bad mouth a coach and a line on my favorite team, but I want in that top tier. We're an offensive line away from being there, and I don't see anything being done to change that situation. Until we do, we'll stay in the group of "really good, but can't quite compete with the best" category.

I'll call bull$hit on that--you don't hate anything about it. Apparently, it's your go-to move.

And wanting to be in "that top tier" is irrelevant. So do all U of L fans, even those NOT berating people on flimsy evidence.

You DID see where I posted that our OL committments consisted of three 2 stars and two three stars, didn't you? Can you honestly say you're excited about that?

And for clarification, I've not said a word about the D line. I've complimented them with how they reload. Rankins goes 12th to the Saints and Brown steps in and doesn't miss a beat. Just want to make clear my problem is strictly with the OL. So citing D line commitments doesn't change the original topic.

Again - lots to agree with. You know however that BP's issues are brought up by opposing coaches in recruiting. They have done better each year with regard to recruiting and personally I'm glad they put more emphasis on the skill positions. And true be told, recruiting skill positions has got to be significantly easier for BP. His offense and overall scheme lend itself to having outstanding skill position players to want to play for him.

That said, I would bet that moving forward there is a greater emphasis placed on OL recruiting.

I think that recruiting is a team effort and BP needs to get as involved with the OL recruiting as he is with the skill guys. I also think that if Petrino doesn't think that Klenakis can do the job, he'll make a change.

Lastly, I think you losing your shit after a poor performance won't have an effect either way.
