Fan goes bonkers

That's "Chris from Richmond". He's a living legend among LPT fans after any loss. He usually calls WVLK-AM 590 which is where that audio was heard...

Oh the irony.....
No kidding. For someone who thinks the UofK rivalry game isn't even worth playing, ole zipp sure knows a whole lot about them to include their stupid over the top fans and what radio station they listen to.
Simplistic thinking--which you're better than, Cue, even if Hound Dog's not...

I can hate on slappies all day long and enjoy their misery without needing to engage them in a "rivalry". As I've said before, MY TEAM doesn't need to be administering any beatdowns on LPT to make me happy. Just so someone does, and the slappies keep melting down.

My issues with a "rivalry" at this point are two-fold... It elevates their program and shows them some measure of respect. And too many of our fans can't handle the results. That second one may not apply to you, Cue, but it applies to too many U of L fans. There are still too many little brothers in our fanbase.

Another reason of less importance but still on the radar... How does a U of L "rivalry" guy pull against LPT in a game like last nite's? In your world, you need LPT to look good against other teams to bolster the importance of that otherwise meaningless OOC win. I don't have that problem because I'd rather they not be on my team's schedule. But how do you other guys compartmentalize those results?

Disagree. I don't respect them enough to be concerned about what they say about their own games win or lose. I DON'T CARE what they think or say and I certainly won't waste my time hunting down a radio station to listen to some idiotic moron whining about how his team sucked that night or how great they were on a different night. Not my style. If they were as insignificant as you suggest then it wouldn't concern you either.

That's probably because you don't relish in someone else's misery like Kerry and I do. Until you've tried it, don't knock it. Slapd!cks are good for something.

And you didn't answer my last question...

Zipp, you're a legend among UL fans. Everytime I see you out, my UL buddies say "there's our Grover".

I am assuming you meant the question below.

'But how do you other guys compartmentalize those results?'

The answer is simple. I don't care about UofK or what games they win or lose if they're not playing the Cardinals. If you relish in their misery as you stated, then you have issues that you personally need to deal with IMO, but you're right about one thing, I haven't tried it so I won't knock it. I haven't tried a lot of things in life. Should I take the same approach for everything I haven't tried or am I allowed to think for myself on what I feel is worth trying and what's not? Tell me what to do zipp. You seem to have all the answers to life. How on earth have I managed to do anything without your keen insight?

This is the world of entertainment--not finance, not about finding your significant other, not about raising children and loving those around you, or choosing your God. I can be irritating, but let's not get the debate TOO ramped up, OK?

And if you don't care about LPT outside of our game, what makes them a "rival"? If they're that unextraordinary, why are scheduling and beating them so important? Doesn't make sense.

Hope you know me better than that zipp. This is just a message board, and my skin is plenty thick, just like your skin is. FWIW, we actually fall on the same side of the fence on this issue. I honestly couldn't care less if the Cards ever played UofK again in any sport.

I was mainly pointing out that after the fact this time around, it would have been worse to lose to UofK and IU because they're not that good as it turns out. Both are top 50, but nothing special. Losing to Virginia and Notre Dame at the time of those losses (we can include Baylor and FSU too) didn't really hurt all that much. The new polls have the Cards at #4. Had we lost to UofK and IU, I doubt we would even be in the top 10.

Compartmentalizing sports is easy to do for some of us. I watch sports for entertainment purposes. Rivalry games, especially instate ones, are very entertaining to me. I root for UofL and whoever is playing uk or IU for that matter.. That makes watching uk fun.

I am also a realist and pragmatist......and beating Blue Blood programs in CBB or CFB, is a lot of fun. (i.e. not saying uk is one in CFB but both IU and UK are thought of in CBB in that manner by the so called experts as we all know).

I am a native of Kentucky from Louisville who has not lived there since 1976....but I come home often to visit relatives and go to UofL games.

Lucky for me that I don't have to contend with BBN morons on a daily basis.....however, it is certainly entertaining to people watch them and try to make sense of what comes out of their mouths at any point in time.....very, very funny stuff right there and I will leave it at that.

Mayo, does all of that mean you root for LPT when we're not playing them??

More evidence tonite why those two December conference games were a LOT more important.

The answer to your question was in my first paragraph. I.E., I root for 2 teams UofL and whoever plays against uk.

Beatng UVA is not in the Cards no matter where or when they play.....and Cards don't beat ND at ND either.

Had the Cards lost to both IU and UK this year....would that make you happier......cause we all know that you will never be giving up your crusade to not play uk in anything. My Lord, you are like a broken record.

So how does beating LPT and then wanting them to lose every other game on their schedule help our postseason situation? I'm at a loss on that, help me.

The "broken record" thingy depends on your perspective... From mine, I feel like I'm debating a brick wall. Neither logic nor experience matters. That's every bit as frustrating.

Very easy answer to that......it is very entertaining listening to cat fans twist in the wind when uk loses.

SInce uk plays in the SEC.....they will almost always be the regular season champ and/or the SEC tournament champ......and they are the all time 'W's" leader....so beating them is normally a quality 'W' in most, if not all seasons.

What do you think the NCAA-T selection committee looks at when assigning the seeding for the teams? Isn't quality 'W's one of the criteria? Do you dispute that?

I will praise you on holding tight to your perspective.....just answer me this: what happens when an irresistable force meets an immovable object? (From Br. Roth's physics class?)

The frustration you speak of correlates to the 'Friction' that you cause with that particular POV......you do see that don't you?
