As literally the only card fan in a packed bar of redneck dumbasses, I listened to the gloating of what the were going to do to us and many comments about traitor Rick and what a POS he was for leaving and he was about to get what he deserved. We'll 30 minutes later it was like being in a tomb after Dean and Garcia lit them up. The absolute vitriol that following that loss that I heard you could compare to what it would be like if Hitlers wake was held in Jerusalem. I wanted to laugh at every one of them but not being a dumbass myself I just smirked and we went back to work. Greatest feeling I had in awhile as you could imagine...well that doesn't compare to the absolute devastation he wrought on this program. Involved or not his obvious lack of oversight brought about 7 years of turmoil, to put that mildly. He's an egotistical pos. And the fact he coaches at another school but appears he wants more attention from another fan base than he does the one he works for is just F'd up to see. Enjoy your GOAT memories. Some of us see something entirely different.

Well I can enjoy the memories and then just let him live life. Him wearing UK gear is his choice. It doesn’t affect my life or the current team we have. It doesn’t change my life if he’s wearing UK gear. But the memories he provided me over his time here did bring me great joy, I won’t forget.

One school invited him back and he attended. We haven’t invited him back. It’s that simple.

Always look forward to Pitino threads, in part because the participants never change...

The same butthurt U of L fans who despise Pitino but would each give their firstborn child to have U of L basketball return to the level of competition that Pitino fostered.

The more reasonable fans who are indifferent to the man in 2024 but respect his accomplishments.

And the Coach himself who appreciates the fans and the players he brought here, but rightfully pi$$e$ on an administration that d!cked him over and would rather perpetuate a basketball program dumpster fire.

BTW Pitino looks pretty happy in the photos and videos I saw this week.

I use the L-word sparingly and certainly not for a basketball coach...

No we didn't. UK fans weren't acting angry either. They were angry. And we didn't think they were ridiculous for being angry. We think they are ridiculous for a lot of other reasons.

Good read for a Sunday. I salute the very bitter OP, he's carving his niche with the Pitino threads. And I salute all responders. Good stuff. Seriously.

For the record, my avatar was never accused of anything by the FBI. And his NCAA infraction was not promptly reporting a rumor to the NCAA.

If U of L had waited for Pitino to be vindicated, we wouldn't in all likelihood be the dumpster fire we are today...

If I'm a St. John's fan I'd be happy that my program matters again. Would you rather have a coach that embraces St. John's and goes to the NIT, or have a hall of fame coach that has you playing at your best level in a few decades?

IDK why we care if St. John's fans are mad are not, it just seems like it's mainly Louisville fans telling SJ's fans how they should feel. More like "I'm not mad and don't care about him, but SJ's fans should be mad!!!"

It is not only possible, but in this instance, two (2) opinions can both be accurate. Zipp is 100% correct about UL Administration’s failure to follow TJ’s request by allowing time to sort out the facts, while UL fans are equally correct in their maintaining that Pitino is a very flawed individual.

Unfortunately, UL was the victim of an unprecedented FBI “hit piece” that was totally reliant on innuendo and rumor. It took years for the legal process to conclude that Pitino and UL were never provided with due process. TJ was denied his one request by Postel, Grissom & Schnatter …… just time to conduct a proper investigation.

History will ultimately show how all 3 of the aforementioned left UL shortly thereafter, having responsibility for the aftermath that our University experienced at the hands of the NCAA.

I repeat again, I have no affection for Pitino whatsoever; as my allegiance is to UL. I just find it difficult that so many UL fans have placed their anger towards Pitino, when in truth, it was the FBI, the NCAA and UL Administrators who acted on pure impulsive emotion, when a thorough investigation would have resulted in a much better outcome for UL and our fans.

I have zero use for him. Loved the hire but he did nothing but embarrass our University. One scandal after another (To much drama). He was responsible for the welfare of our program and he didn’t do his job. I don’t care what the excuse was. He couldn’t beat SuCk and I think that’s because he still had strong feelings for UK. And then this.
When asked if he thought he would ever wear KY blue again?
“Yeah I thought so, once I left Louisville, I would sleep in KY blue.” Pitino said with a laugh.
What scum bag, shows up for another D1 program midnight madness while coaching another D1 program. He’s a narcissist and we were the victim. Nothing good he did here can make up for what he did to our program. And the dick wants an apology. Classic narcissist.
I do get that he didn’t like how he was fired, but all of those people are gone, so now all he’s doing g is disrespecting the fan base, the same fan base that supported him through all the scandals.

Thats your take? That St Johns made the news because their coach supports another team? I don't give 2 cents if St Johns fans are made or not, I just think it should be embarrassing to the university.

If St. John's doesn't have Pitino then they aren't even a bubble team.
With Rick Pitino, people are wondering if they can make a big run in March.

3 NCAA tournament appearances in 20 years and I don't believe in any of those 3 they made the round of 32. They haven't made it past the first weekend since 1999. So if I'm a St. John's fan, I'm estatic I have a coach that will have them in the conversation of making a run to the 2nd weekend. They weren't even playing in the Garden any more until Rick came back or were talking about moving out most their games until Rick got there?

Question to @Ty Spalding

Are they honoring the 2005 team's 20th Anniversary this season??? That was the highlight of my college and our first Final Four in almost 20 years. Although he's coaching, I would think it would be a good chance to get the guys from his early teams back and work on the olive branch.

Lots of shouting here. You're the only one doing this. Unsure why you're accusing others of what you are doing. Weird straw man. You want these people to argue what you want to argue against. It's just weird.

Not sure when you became the spokesperson for St. John's basketball fans either.

Good stuff. Keep the shouting and projection coming. Eventually somebody might shout back. But probably not.

Periin Johnson admittted he is the one who brokered the deal for Pitino to interview with Matty Bangs on KSR. Perrin and Matt are buddys . He was one of the insiders for Matty Bangs always knowing things about U of L. .

How much embarrassment has this University suffered AFTER Pitino was fired? At least with THAT guy, I had plenty of wins and tourney appearances to console myself...

Is this the reason Perrin Johnson isn’t Drew Deener’s fall guy anymore in the mornings? Drew mad Perrin was getting the scoops and not him?
 
Matty Bangs spread vicious rumors not just about Pitino but Pitino’s family as well. Sent his fat, one eyebrow goon to follow him around. Pitino can forgive this and not UofL? Pitino got Jurich fired. Step outside the Louisville-Lexington bubble and the whole country thinks Pitino is scum.

Therein lies the much larger issue. The people now in charge at U of L clearly haven't harmed anyone...

An apology? Firing him for things that happened under his watch? Or should he apologize for the things that happened under his watch? Or should he apologize for flat out lying about him not being invited to UofL?

If the report about the BE Commissioner and the St. John’s AD are accurate; it would be hilarious if Pitino gets sanctioned for his statement about “wishing UK a NC this season”.
