The University of Louisville and University of Memphis will re-fire their long-running basketball rivalry in the 2017-18 season, according to a report by CBS Sports.
The Tigers, coached by former University of Kentucky coach (and former Rick Pitino assistant) Tubby Smith, and Cardinals are scheduled to play at Madison Square Garden. It will be the 90th meeting between the longtime conference rivals.
They last met as members of the American Athletic Conference in 2013-14, with Memphis winning both games.
Whether this game continues the yearly series between the schools has yet to be determined. The teams were to have played a home-and-home series in 2015-16 and this season, but Louisville asked to delay that when it entered the ACC.
