(7) LOUISVILLE VS. (8) NORTH CAROLINA- GAME THREAD

Cannot expect to win a game like this if we cant convert the few free throws we get. If we lose this will be the culprit inexcusable totally.

Down 8 and Carolina has at least 10 points on shots falling with completely BS lucky bounces. Can we get some of those please?

Yeah, this game is all but over since the whistles have slowed the pace down to a crawl, and the Cardinals can't hit any free throws or open 3 point shots. UNC is taking control because of the 3 pointers and free throws.

We build our lead pounding the ball inside and hit out 3's working the ball inside out.
We did neither in the second half.

Also as i have said all season pitino needs to play his bench and rest his starters. Starters can not play 30 minutes a game and be fresh in late game situations. Legs are too worn out to hit free throws or shots.

Dead legs are real.

Thank coach p for over playing players.

Apparently the guy who got in Pitino's face was removed by security. Hopefully his right to buy tickets will be terminated. That was embarrassing to all our fans.

There was just a weird vibe with the Cards starting from the from tip off. I don't know if it is just because they let the big game situation get to them or what but it was odd. It felt a little like everyone was trying to do too much and ended up doing almost nothing instead.

Snider, who is usually Mr. Steady, was really rattled and off in the first half especially. A couple of other odd things- like missing almost everything from the foul line- from other guys as well. Add to that UNC rattling in 3's all game long and it was a losing recipe.

I do give UNC credit though. The better team won tonight but that was a terribly off game for the Cards as well.

Over the last 5 games, our ft % is 76%. Tonight we shot 31%. Our average is 7.6 3's. We hit 5.

Shoot our averages and we win by 1.

The 21-4 ft ratio was the difference of this game though.

UNC had to earn it, good for them.

I believe that Louisville will be ready for the ACCT and the NCCAT. Im almost at the point I will take us on a neutral court vs anyone in the ACC. Better offense here in these next few games and that might make me believe it.

UNC has thrashed a # of quality teams @ home this year - don't get carried away with the outcome of this game, and/or the things that you saw out there.

The better team won. UofL has offensive limitations and they were on display tonight. Credit UNC for playing the required D.

Still think the Cards can make the FF.
The more experienced team won last night. The difference in this game was the wide open shots the Cards missed. I laughed out loud when Bilas started praising UNC's defense. It wasn't overpowering by any stretch. The Cards just missed open shots. That's OK. Better to go cold now instead of in a couple of weeks. Got to rebound better too.

I believe they can as well but what kind of worries me is that it was almost the same recipe as the last Virginia game. Play team ball in the first half and keep it close, 2nd half things break down and guys go one on one. Another stat that I thought was interesting, the Cards haven't beaten a ranked team on the road since 2014. 0-10 in that span. That says lack of maturity. At this point in the season, it shouldn't be the issue.

So of course this will be dismissed as a "drive by" post but, here are the facts on playing time.
Mathiang 14
Johnson 22
Adel 28
Snider 32
Mitchell 38
Bench
Mahmoud 25
Spalding 17
King 12
Stockman 1
McMahon 5
Hicks 4
Henderson 2

Refraining from regurgitating your thoughts on Adel vs. King, how should have the playing time been split up to make your point? Mitchell played 38 minutes and he certainly didn't appear to have "dead legs" and other than our starting PG at 32 minutes, no player logged more than the magic 30 minute mark that you so often refer to. Shoot, Mathiang didn't even crack the 15 minute mark - you know the one that "guarantees" a loss - lol.

I'll hang up and listen...

Keep in mind this group has not played too many "meaningful" games - they were clearly amped for the game but did not execute much of anything. They'll learn from it.

lets stick with my original post on dead legs and understand how i am right my good sir.
snider and mitcher were 4/6 from the free throw line and were 4/13 from three point world.

my good man that is 31 points left out there and we lost by 11.......... take those minutes down from the 30 plus clip to a 25-28 clip and we win the game.

we are 1-5 against the top 25 for a reason. that reason is overplaying starters and they have dead legs in the game.

hope someone of your incredibly high IQ can understand that kind sir.

we fix that and we will be champions............... otherwise prepare for the spring football game.

Regarding the comment about "dead legs". We were 0-3 from the foul line and 0-6 from the 3 pt line in the FIRST half. Nobody had dead legs then so another one of your theories is fantasy...

NCCard beat me to the punch (damn that career - lol) and was exactly right.

Mitchell was 1-6 (0-4 from 3) in the first half - actually didn't make his first jumper until 5:57 left in the first half but "miraculously" dead legs and all, went 6-8 (3-5 from 3) in the second half. How could that have happened??

Q simply had a very off night. Anytime you go 1-3 on layups - you aren't focused. 32 minutes is not too much for a PG - particularly when you factor in team and media timeouts.

Back to the drawing board.
