11/9/22 LOUISVILLE VS BELLARMINE GAME THREAD- 9PM ACC NETWORK

i thought the original spread on the game was them favored by 8 not us, i wish i bet as i would have bet the house that a team who won their division last year playing in the same system would have a much better chance to win against a team without any identity, a new coach, new players, no system, no confidence, and no ffing chance of winning...and they almost did. i mean, who actually believed we were going to win, any of you? really? you really thought this team was somehow going to be any better than last years team with all the changes? let me put it another way, if this was last years team would we have beaten Bellarmine...NO, so why did anyone thing this year's team would? baffling to me... but the defintiion of being a fan(atic) is someone who doesn't think rationally or with any common sense. right in front of our eyes, we lost to a div ii school who's name no one can pronounce or remember a week ago and somehow we're goign to beat a well tuned team. com'n now.
I believe we were favored by 8.

It’s Bellaramine not Duke I guess our expectations of our program is really low. I just wonder how long will our fans except mediocrity for a program that was once considered a blue blood program.

Last years team would have beaten Bellarmine. That team struggled no doubt but they lost their last game by 1 point to Virginia. They played UNC to the wire and might have won if the refs would have thrown Bacot out of the game like they should have.

Remember they won their first 4 ACC games. Could this Bellarmine team do that? Don't think so.

There's no real comparison with this Cards team and last years. I think this team may end up surprising a lot of people.

no fffing way. lest you forget down the stretch of the season...L syracuse 92-69 (22pts!!!), L ND 63-57 (10), L Wake 99-67 (33 pts!!!), lost VT 74-43 (31 pts!!!), L Va 71-61(10), L GT 84-74(10) then had a miracle and only lost by 1 to Va so don't count the very last game of the season against an opponent you just faced as a reason to think they were good. they got lucky for a single game. (btw we did beat clemson, woohoo that's a feather in the cap, had we ever lost to them before?)

so how does getting drubbed. in 6 of our last 8 games makes you think we could beat a well coached team? again, fan(atic), we sucked last year and why pegues did nto get considered really for the job. players gave up. 30 point losses in college bball, come on, to crappy team btw, not duke!

again, why did any one think we could win? last year's team sucked and the games, scores and stats prove me correct. we went 13-19 and 6-14 in conference. bellarmine won theirs and no matter who you are playing it takes a complete team to win your league. and Scotty D wan the div ii title awhile ago. somehow he forgot how to coach? jeepers, why do i constantly have to explain the simple truth is all i'm saying

You do know we lost by one point? What would your entire rant mean had Cards made the last second shot and won?

Do you really believe if we played Bellarmine again tomorrow we would lose?

Last years team has nothing to do with this team. Bellarmine this season is not as good as their team last season. There's just no reason to consider what last seasons teams would do this season.

I predicted the Cards would lose to Bellarmine. You can check another thread and see I thought the Cards would lose by 5 points. I was right on the reasons why after the 1st half but the Cards improved in the 2nd half and Bellarmine scored half the points they scored in the 1st half. That was a pleasant surprise and a positive note coming out of that defeat.

Which is all we can ask for going forward.

So all we can ask for is for the team to have a better 2nd half than they did in the 1st half. I would rather ask them to put in maximum effort the whole game, after all this is college not high school ball.

They gave effort in the 1st half but you got to remember they're learning on the job. Experiencing Bellarmine's ball movement and cutting wasn't easy, but they did a much better job in the 2nd half.

Aside from the first exhibition game, these guys are putting the effort into getting better. There's nowhere to go but up from where they were after that first game.

We all know the limitations of the roster. We all know there's going to be unflattering loses, but I haven't seen a lack of trying or effort. To the contrary, I see guys trying too hard, wanting to prove to the fans that this team is better than they think.

Sooner or later they're going to beat someone that they weren't supposed to beat, and how the team and the staff react to that will go a long way in determining if they're going to be better than expected.

There are a million examples of teams starting off very bad, only to improve mightily throughout the season. To get all hung up about game one of the regular season is not going to give you the answers you seek.
