Kenny Payne might be the worst teacher of basketball in the history of D1 college basketball. I’m being 100% serious.
Not seeing the hype for so called best player Tre White at all. He throws up a ton of junk and then loafs back on defense

I think that he might be effective in the limited role that he had at uk. Being the love ‘em up coach who puts his arm around players after they get chewed out by the HC is an important role in any staff.
That said, his ability as a “big man whisperer” has been shown to be pure fiction. He had 5* after 5* - the idea that he developed kids into pros is nonsense.
And as a HC? Well all he’s done has proved all of the people that said he wasn’t ready for the big chair to be absolutely correct. This team won’t win 10 games and Payne will be (correctly) fired.
Yeah, they have no clue. Whatever is being taught isn’t in a team concept. He isn’t going to survive and it maybe as soon as December.

I'm not sure what the purpose of having a seven footer in the game if all your gonna do is having him run screens 25 feet away from the basket. Our own coach is neutralizing our inside presence
Cards have always been the victim of loose balls, be it off of blocked shots or long rebounds. Doesn't matter if we suck or a top 10 team.
That sequence of blocking two shots that leads to an open 3 is just typical and makes getting over this hump harder than it should be. It's maddening how that shit keeps happening.

Absolute joke. The very first thing he is responsible for along the baseline.
That was the ref I was referring to. That man needs to be suspended and or investigated. There's absolutely no way he didn't see that player step on the endline multiple times with both feet.
Just look how high the hump is for this program. I will say this, KP's coaching notwithstanding, this group of players is a hundred times better than last season. They have heart and desire and more importantly, better basketball IQ.

Obviously UMBC on their way to the final four. 🤣 An occasional hand in their face might help.
That game deserved that ending. Tre White loses his mind and decides to attempt a terribly timed layup, mugs the rebounder that then results in an alley-oop dunk. Dude on UMBC was basically halfway to the locker room and ref doesn’t call him out of bounds and then misses the second free throw to secure the L. Just a beautiful disaster.

Or not. The point is UMBC was as confident on offense as any ranked team I've seen. They had two guys get career highs. They believed.
They were also very fortunate that the pinball machine they were in kept giving them wide open 3's.
Cards were lucky to win this one which is very unusual for this program. I don't expect each team they play is going to make twelve 3 pointers.
