11/6/23 LOUISVILLE VS UMBC GAME THREAD

I don’t understand how you start BHH after what he’s shown throughout his career, let alone the two exhibitions.
Only thing I can think of is that BHH practices really well or that Payne really wants to get him going somehow.

But I totally agree with you he hasn't shown anything even in the 2 exhibition games.

So far, they’re playing more aggressive, getting paint touches, some good things.

But the glaring issues to me are still, as they have been, containing the ball on defense and creating on offense, either via the dribble or the pass.

Actually seeing some parameter passing and posting up. Color me shocked
Seem to run a lot of action to get to an iso post-up. So far, for 3 different players. But none of them have resulted in a bucket. Not patient enough with the ball or too physical backing guys down in BHH’s case.

Like the action though. If we aren’t going to be guard heavy and beating guys off the dribble, you better be able to score with your back to the basket.

Shooting seems to be an issue as well. Also something we called for more of via the portal.

Lot of guys missing long, so just hoping it’s adrenaline and they settle in.

Cards are more aggressive today and getting to the foul line but you gotta make them

The last thing you should do if you’re having trouble stopping dribble drives is go to a ****ing press.

It’s crazy that a single half isn’t even over yet and it’s like collectively, the team and fans know the season is already over.

I know the Cards defense is not where it needs to be, but come on now. UMBC is not missing shots. They look like a top 10 team. It's unreal!

Well that’s because that understanding starts from the top.
Took me a couple of minutes to clear my windpipe of beer after reading that. If you can't laugh you'll cry and I just can't bring myself to cry over this exhibition of awful coaching.
