OT: PRP baseball.

They knocked off Trinity today for a chance at the state title, against the winner of McCracken and Owensboro Catholic. My dad was a proud PRP alum. Go Panthers!

Also, I see the state tournament games are being played at UK's ball park. Which is fine. But, then I remembered the boys and girls play at Rupp for the Sweet 16, and the football championships are played at Kroger. Did UofL piss somebody off?

Isaac Sowells will no longer be taking his official visit to Louisville. The team wanted him to cancel his visit with NC State and take his Louisville OV that weekend instead of the previously scheduled midweek visit. Unfortunately for Louisville, this means it is eliminated from contention on this one.

He'll decide between South Carolina, Kentucky, NC State and Miami.

FB RECRUITING: We rank the best QBs of the Rivals Camp Series regional stops:

The Louisville commitment is another who has upped his stock during the offseason, something he kicked off at the Rivals Camp Series in Atlanta. A gamer on Friday nights who will impress with his arm, legs and leadership, the camp effort proved he could get into a strong rhythm and drive the football well despite not-so-ideal elements on hand that cool and rainy day. Mims stands tall in the pocket and can work multiple arm angles relative to the flow of the play, combining well with his natural athleticism for what looks like a strong fit for the Cardinals.

Dan McDonnell leading candidate to fill South Carolina vacancy

Two Publications Tab Dan McDonnell as Candidate for South Carolina Job

McDonnell has been the head coach of the Louisville baseball program since 2007.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Every offseason, it seems that at some point Louisville baseball head coach Dan McDonnell gets tied to a major job opening. We've now officially hit that point in the current offseason.

On Monday, South Carolina officially parted ways with head coach Mark Kingston after seven seasons with the Gamecocks. Not long afterwards, both Baseball America and D1Baseball named McDonnell as one of their top candidates to watch.

"With no word on when Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco might retire, this could be McDonnell’s best shot and fit to be an SEC coach if he so desires," D1Baseball's Kendall Rogers wrote.

Baseball America's Teddy Cahill cited McDonnell's time in the state of South Carolina stemming from his time as a player and coach at The Citadel, and that "if he can convince (USC AD Ray) Tanner that he hasn’t lost his fastball, he’d be a solid fit."

McDonnell has been one of the most successful coaches in college baseball during his 18 years as the skipper of the Cardinals. He sports an overall record of 742-330-1 and .692 win percentage since his hiring in 2007, has five appearances in the College World Series, and is a two-time National Coach of the Year.

HS Recruiting Data

I’ll start by explaining the Data, I have included all of the CURRENT P4 schools including Notre Dame and excluding Oregon St and Washington State. The data I took was HS kids taken in the 23’ and 24’ classes.

To kick things off the we will start with conference averages over the past 2 years. ACC classes have averaged 20.2 kids per class the past 2 years. SEC: 23.06, B10: 21.61 (this was tanked by UCLA who has taken 12.5 kids the past 2 classes), and last but not least B12: 19.625. All 68 P4 teams averaged 21.15 kids per class. Louisville averaged 16.5.

20/68 schools averaged less than 20 Hs kids per class, majority were right on the cusp at 18.5 or more. Only 7/68 schools have taken on less kids than Louisville. So sorry. Not 98/2% but 89/11%. Those 7 teams ARE Boston college, SMU, Cal, Indiana, UCLA, UCF, and Kansas. Is that the pool of schools you want to be associated with?

Everyone feel free to ask questions. The numbers will be a little skewed because I think this staffs magic number is 15. The 23’ class was at 18. If 15 is their number that would be the 3rd lowest in the country behind SMU and UCLA
