When UK fans acted angry for him coaching us, we thought it was ridiculous.
Now our fans are acting ridiculous for him putting on a UK shirt.
This rivalry sometimes just makes people act way too angry. I used to be way too into the rivalry, I’m not like that any more. It’s a game. It’s not like he’s working for Bin Laden or Putin, it’s sports. I love it, but having a family and marriage I just can’t have anger for him.
He’s my GOAT. I was here for the 2005 Final Four. I was there for the title in 2013 and so many other games. You won’t make me forget.
The games and memories happened. His hiring was so massive for our University and athletics dept. If he isn’t hired, we don’t become a clear top 5-10 job in the country. Just imagine if Denny hung on a few more years or we had hired Larry Eustachy? The donors that were brought on board and the energy brought into this community.
Also, has Rick Pitino been invited back by UofL since 2017? That’s my one question. Because if we haven’t invited him back and Kentucky did, then I mean there’s nothing really we can do about it.
It’s his life. If he wants to go to a place that called him all those things, it’s his life again. He’s old and wants to mend fences.
I’ll also point out the “WELL IM NOT MAD AND ILL SAY IT LOUDLY BUT IF I WAS A ST JOHNS FAN ID BE MAD!!!!” is coming from our fans. Let SJ’s fans worry about him, PK is our coach.
I mean Rick went to the biggest rival or his former school, he did that himself and took the risk of being hated by them. If the situation was reversed, we would’ve hated Denny had he went to coach Kentucky. So I respect that he came here and went right at that fan base knowing he’d be hated.
It’s time to move on. He’s old and at the end of his life. Let him and UK mend fences. And one day he’ll be back here and all of us around for those day will be there to cheer him on.
