That is remarkable, but there is a long list of teams that shot their way into the last weekend that died on the vine because they couldn't get stops. Duke is a whole different defensive animal than BYU, and they have so many long defenders in the backcourt Sears is going to have to get into the lane more.
I get it from a coaching perspective he wanted to keep both Harris and Cochran. The problem was they were the same player. Couldn’t consistently hit a jumper and no post moves. It is OK to have one of those but not 2.
The fact they won as much as they did is due to their coaching. The issue is the last 2 years the pieces really didn’t fit. To me going deep with the freshman class in this environment is an odd choice. But he knows what he is doing.
We definitely haven’t seen that kind of shooting before. The odds are they will regress at some point. Sears was really struggling from 3 the 1st 2 rounds. They shoot like that yeah no one is touching them.
Duke’s offense is pretty damn good too so it will be a great game.
The teams at the upper end of the SEC are terrific offensively. They operate incredibly fast and efficient. In building a roster the only way to slow offense like this down is to switch everything. Then deal with the results. Auburn is the only one that has a big that is a killer inside. Make them earn it down low. Then force the guards to drive try to force contested 2’s.
Is this a commitment or just a guy trying to up his price again? I would usually welcome him to the ‘Ville, but he could be gone by Saturday. I hope he sticks. More importantly I hope he learns the meaning of the word “commitment”. It will serve him well in life.
I watched the rest of the video as well we were really loaded with talent it was a lot of fun watching that team. By the looks of everything right now I think Brohm has us headed back to teams with the same amount of talent that that team had.
Worth mentioning that Alabama just broke a 35 year old NCAA record by drilling 25 three pointers against BYU. The previous record was 21, held by Loyola Marymount and was set back when the 3pt line was 19 ft 9 inches instead of today’s 22ft 1.75 inches.
Alabama also scored the most points ever in any NCAA tournament game with 113 points.
