@CardsvsCats2019 , if you read the Rivals rules at the stickies at the top of the page.....you might understand why somethings had to change on this Free Board. This is no longer a free for all over run by KY fans.

Didn’t answer the question. I think most Card fans can say who they would have liked to see interviewed for the head coach and their reasons, if they were truly following the program.

We disagree often but it's not a trash talking social media free for all. It's taken hours of all mods to clear out troubles on this board. We did this to make it a comfortable place for all UofL fans, including UofL lurkers who didn't want to be a part of all the trash posting.

Gotcha and can appreciate what you’re trying to accomplish here. Apologies for ruffling feathers, but Christ, if saying I wasn’t a huge fan of the Mack hire gets some here so triggered, I don’t think that’s a me problem. That’s a them problem.

No it’s not a them problem. You can’t just throw barbs at the coaches/players without some logical reasoning and you need to be able to defend what you say..
I gave multiple reasons. Settle down long enough to read without getting so defensive. Deep breath. If you don't agree with the reasons that I gave, I'd be happy to respectfully debate that with you.
Gun shy Red & Black fans and you showed up on the board after Ky kicked our butts in FB. Cats in a user name is a warning and causes distrust esp when you call out one of our own. Like CCM or not, he is one of our own but folks will be grumbling if he loses this game tomorrow. Go Cards!

The second post that I made here explained the SN. I created the account fully expecting to bust their ass in football, and I was planning to rail them on their board. I got banned here after 2 posts, and then reinstated (thank you, BTW). I can't do anything about the SN now, unless you would like to change it to MMACard for me. Agree, CCM is who's here and he's one of our own. As a person, I think he's great. Awesome dad, good husband, down to earth. Like I said, I think the hire was a good one in terms of him being able to stabilize the program...plus, Christy being from here, etc. It made sense. I'm just not sold on him being someone that can win championships here, yet. I hope he proves me wrong.
I too had doubts but I don’t get to make the call and I was able to accept him by following him and listening to him. My hope is we will have our 3rd HOF coach. High expectations but this is Louisville MBB.
A pretty emotional reaction to a benign 2 letter question. Just out of pure curiosity IMO, the statement that “Mack better win this game” begged the follow up as to what the consequence be if the game is not won. Nothing more; nothing less.
And each one of those points can be countered by Ricks when he was coaching multiple bridge years nit etc from a HOF coach who couldnt beat UK.
Couldn't care less about Rick. Loved the man, but he's gone & not coming back. My comments were about Mack. and they still stand.
Comments I would add is that CCM is still a relatively a young, head coach. Went to 8 (in 9 years) NCAA tourneys at Xavier and resulting in 3 sweet 16's and an Elite 8. If you look across the landscape and compare the resume's of coaches in their first 7-10 years and I don't think there is that large of a gap. Love the hire, not sure who would have been better that was hireable, and think he absolutely can win championships here. Understanding how to build the momentum for a strong March finish isn't an easy thing to accomplish, especially playing in a league like the ACC, but I feel pretty darn confident he can and will accomplish that.
Sometimes you have to look at what’s there and do with what’s the best decision at the time.
Our last 2 coaches were HOF coaches that won multiple national titles. We weren’t a big time program when we got Denny, but he was under Wooden and the best hire we could make and it paid off.
Rick Pitino was the best coach in the nation who had ties to our state/city. We had a good tradition and a great fan base, with money to pay him big. It was truly a rare scenario that we were able to get a coach line Rick.
Chris Mack is not Rick Pitino, but then again nobody can be on that level. Who out there would’ve been a home run hire better than Mack? Brad Stevens and Billy Donovan weren’t coming to college. Bruce Pearl already had FBI investigation ties. Jay Wright and Tony Bennett weren’t leaving heir jobs. No one knew who Chris Beard was at the time.
Chris Mack was perfect. Had just come off a #1 seed and an elite 8 season in his final 2 years at Xavier. He was young and a good recruiter. Had ties to the area. He just had the right fit after all the bad things going on the last 3-4 years.
Now is Mack going to be a hall of Famer? Who knows?! But it’s an inexact science finding a great coach. UCLA and Indiana are still looking for their next great coach. sUcKs had Tubby and Gillispie. UNC had Doeherty. Kansas went 20 years in between titles. UConn thought they found their guy in Ollie.
Denny Crum was a risk we took on an assistant and it worked. Rick Pitino happened by a very lucky circumstance and hard work by TJ.
Mack I don’t think will be anywhere near Rick, but Rick won a title and got to 3 Final Fours in 16 years, 3 other Elite Eights. That was a successful run, so let’s keep it in perspective on what our definition of success will be when comparing the 2 coaches. Pitino’s don’t grow on trees, but we do expect success with the money we are paying Mack. I’m hoping for the best.
^ This. But would like to add one tidbit of info. Before joining Wooden as his assistant....Crum was a highly successful HC at I believe Pierce JC in, I believe L.A., without doing a google search.
So he had HC experience and learned from one of the all time great coaches in HOF 'the Wizard of Westbrook' John Wooden.

Look I understand your passion and am truly appreciative of your passion but you are coming off a bit strong in this particular thread. Maybe it is you that should dial it down a tad. Yeah, you seem like the really level headed and agreeable sort. I wasn’t suggesting anyone agree with my opinion. Everyone has a God given right to their own opinions. All I asked was respectfully debate, instead of attacking me...which is what happened immediately in this thread, when people couldn’t fathom someone would have some concerns about CCM.

I honestly haven't felt this good about the game in a long time. UK with the refs will keep the game close early but they just aren't a good team. Plus there's no longer the Pitino factor.
