Your Grade For This Football Season?

9-4 is not bad at all like most of us the Stanford loss was awful. Things really look good for next year key players coming back and picking up key players in the portal. CJB has us on the right path I am excited about football again now let’s get basketball back on track.

We beat Clemson and the Slapdicks, that's worth a solid B. We legit could've beat ND, Miami, and SMU and as mentioned by everyone in this thread the Stanford game was a train wreck all systems failure. We were not prepared for that game at all. So with the 3 close losses and a bowl win I would give us a A- but the loss to Stanford knocks it down to a B- minus for me. That was an unforgivable loss..

I agree with Booneco_card I’m still upset about that Stanford game. We need to beat them by 50 next time we play just for me to get over it 😡
Give the credit to CardX. I just happened to agree with him for the same reasons. I toyed with the idea of a solid B but there were too many missed opportunities.

i called 9-4 as being a very good year before it started. never thought we'd win the acc, nor beat uk. but knew we'd choke an expected game as predicted, and was certainly unprepared for another as predicted. beat clemson, a general upset as predicted, though and shoulda beat nd.

but going 9-4 with three wins to end the season is a lot better than going 10-4 with an easier schedule and then losing three games to end the season, but still not as good as winning their final 6 games which should have happened, so since i basically predicted the entire season, predicted the choke game, i give it an A-. if we'd beaten Stanford an A and had beaten SMU too an A+ figuring we'd made it to title game and i said 10 wins was outrageous season. so you're welcome. see you in the late summer, same bird time, same bird channel. (get it, old batman tv ending but i changed it up there to rep the team, happy new year!) go cards!

In this environment where the margin for error is very small plus limited budget to win 9-10 games is incredible. I have a sliding scale.
A+ make the playoff.
A 10 win season ACC title game.
A- 9 win
B-8 wins

It is so hard to win. To win 9-10 games at Louisville is awesome.

If Brohm had a 15m NIL budget could he dominate the ACC?

Totally agree with your sliding scale. IMO, if the Stanford loss hadn't of happened the likelihood of the final 3 game closeout ending in the fashion it did....that would'nt have happened either.

The staff circled the wagons and reenergized the team with the spirit of winning the big ones when the opportunity presented itself. Solid A for me. And the players that believed didn't leave but stepped up to prove it and themselves. That is not a knock on those that left to start their quest for the next level.

The QB showed alot...did well for himself....showed the 'O' system is the right system for UofL....and the defense showed much grit when it had too at times in spite of themselves.

The officials tried to help out the Huskies at several turns but the call at the 2 yard line was very key to the final outcome. Eat it B10.

Cards got the call rightly in that one and fought hard to prevail....rewarded with a hard fought W to end the season in a memorable manner. Great game and win.

True grit just like CJB. Looking forward to the next chapter in this story that he is writing for the Cards!!!! Next...let's play!

As fans sometimes we think on players are like us. They lose the season is over. Most Athletes aren’t built that way. To play at this level they an elite competitors. Where they are similar as fans in they don’t respect their opponent. That is why Stanford and Pitt games occur. To win at this level they have to always be locked in. How many of us are locked in at work every day?

I have a genuine appreciation for how hard this game is for all involved. We get 12 game a year so it is natural for us to over react each week. Year end look back appreciate the fact they put a roster together that stood toe to toe with Notre Dame which may win it all. That is all we can ask for.

I am stuck on a solid B+, but can't help coming away with that gnawing when watching the Playoffs--which saw a quarter of the field on our schedule--we really shot ourselves in the leg this year with what personnel we had. In the end, timing was everything. The offensive line stabilized the second half of the season, coincidentally or not almost precisely when Isaac Brown emerged as our every down back spotted by Duke Watson. Only two sacks allowed to Pitt in garbage time were the only sacks allowed the last month of the season while they navigated injuries was exceptional work from Richard Owens and the line. To thoroughly eradicate the Clemson and UK demons--and in their buildings--is something we shouldn't take for granted.

If you want to know the God's honest truth, if you had flopped the timing of the Stanford and SMU games I think we would have been in the ACC Championship game. We were better assembled to represent the ACC than SMU and Clemson because of the quality of our offense by season's end and ultimately the health of our team in November. Not having Riley and an unhealthy Thornton playing with that oven mitt for the ND/SMU/UVa stretch hindered us big time. Teams could throw at Thornton without any fear he'd pick it off, and he dropped multiple INTs in that stretch.

I will also say with bile in my mouth, the way the ACC artificially propped up Miami from the preseason conference meetings in Charlotte until their loss to Syracuse will leave scars for me. If we got the protection they got from the refs in the ND, SMU and Miami games where they were treated like Coach K's Duke? Good Lord we might have been undefeated.
