WVB Tournament observations

Pitt and Wisconsin were both fortunate to escape 5 set matches against underdogs, and several weaknesses were exposed that had been previously concealed by both survivors.

Overwhelming evidence of ESPN’s SEC bias was on display last night. As soon as the Wisconsin game ended, the ESPN TV analyst directed their full attention to TX A&M’s “heroic effort” in their loss; if someone had not seen the game, you would have thought A&M ahad won the match. Earlier in the post game interview, another ESPN reporter asked the Wisconsin star “how she felt when hearing the A&M crowd cheering louder than her Wisconsin Home fans?” You can’t make this stuff up; it is so intentional, it’s humiliating to the viewers.

Huge match between Pitt vs UK WVB game will be playing at the same time UK vs UL MBB Game; depending on how our UL Men are performing, will determine what I will be watching the closest. Before the WVB Tournament started, I thought Pitt was unbeatable, particularly in Pittsburgh. After witnessing the Thursday matches, it is evident that UK is playing about as well as any team right now, other than our UL Ladies. I will not be so surprised to see UK beat the Panthers, and that will considered as big of an upset as this sport as seen.

If our UL Ladies plays with the same focus and intensity they displayed on Friday over Purdue, we will sweep a very good Stanford Team.

I don’t know who the sports analyst are for the pregame show but the female throws little jabs at Louisville whenever she can.

Correct Koz! At first I thought it was just my being sensitive, but it becoming so obvious to the ESPN audience, that social media comments are calling them out from all over the country.

I hope you are not referring to Jennifer Hoffman, the ESPN2 studio announcer? She's a former U of L VB player and All American. She's only trying to be honest and non bias, but she is very complimentary of the Cards.

I suspect that Koz was referring to the same announcer that I was referring to, and it was not Jennifer. I don’t know the name of the announcer that I heard, but she is an attractive African American woman, but definitely not Hoffman.

With that said, even a UL alumni could be excused for following “the ESPN narrative”, as each of these employees have careers that depend on adherence to what their employer expects.

Well he did say "pregame" show and not announcer so there's that. So I guess you imply that Luke Hancock follows a directive to be negative against U of L. Who's out to get you and do you check your closets when you get home?

Luke doesn’t cover volleyball however we are talking about the same announcer. I wonder where she went to school because she is consistent with her remarks. Before our match with Stanford she was talking about how good Stanford was. She also made the comment that Louisville enters the tournament with some controversy. She thought Creighton should have been the #1 seed in the tournament not Louisville. I guess she was wrong on both counts because Louisville made it to the Final Four and Creighton didn’t. I hope she keeps talking us down because it is bringing us good luck.
