Yeah, it was a little wet up there.

A driving rainstorm won this battle, pouring down the entire contest, remnants from Ian, I suppose and the Cards and Panthers were scoreless until just 11 minutes remained in the match. Pitt got that winning goal in the 79th minute as Samiah Phiri found net off a corner kick in a sequence that almost looked like a Louisville player kicked the ball past Cards goalkeep Erryn Floyd.

Floyd was in a pink goalkeeper kit, but, I will not go into any Pink Floyd references or puns.

So...The Pitt women's soccer team (11-1-0, 4-0-0 ACC) battled through soggy conditions and shut out Louisville (4-4-2, 1-3-0 ACC), 1-0, Saturday at Ambrose Urbanic Field. The Panthers ran their winning streak to five in a row and have opened ACC play with four wins in four tries for the first time in program history.

The offensive woes continue for Karen Ferguson Dayes squad. The Kickin' Cards have scored just two goals in the last six matches and are 1-3-2 in that stretch. A killer three game road trip ends, where the Cards faced three top-15 squads in nine days.

Louisville returns to the friendly confines of Lynn Stadium to face Clemson on Thursday. The Tigers are 5-4-2 overall and 1-3 in the ACC.
