Will the Cards be ranked?

Dude....really?? No!
They should be. If we were ND or Michigan or Oklahoma we definitely would be.

Three losses by one score each to three teams currently in the top 10. Louisville could have won all three.

There will be other three loss teams ranked, so yes really!

The reason I bring it up is the disrespect Louisville receives never seems to relent. No one thought the Cards would beat Clemson even though it looked so much like a possible upset game.

Cards are big game tested, having barely lost to ND, SMU and Miami. Clemson played one big game against Georgia and was mugged. They were in a perfect position for a letdown game, especially after being 10.5 favorites all week.

Louisville was ranked as high as 15 so it's no surprise they finally won a big game. They should be rewarded with a ranking.

Louisville still has a game against a ranked Pittsburgh team they will likely be favored in.

Louisville was 30th in this past week's AP poll. Navy, Memphis, Illinois, and Pitt all lost that were close and above us so there is a chance! GO CARDS!

There a very few teams in college and pro’s that play complete games. The reason is they are teams with talented players. They make plays too. The reality is they have lost to 3 potentially top 10 teams by one score.

I bet they are in the Top 25 in the playoff rankings.

Yes, because the RPI cannot be ignored, and both SMU and Miami will move up along with ND.

I believe Vanderbilt and UL are both under-rated, and deserve consideration given the quality of the quality of competition.

Not to take anything away from what appears to be a very good and undefeated IU football team, in contrast to UL, the Hoosiers have not played a single top 25 team yet, UL has played 3 teams rated at one time or another 3 in the top 10.

Vanderbilt is a perfect example of disrespect because of who they have been. I couldn't believe they were 7.5 underdogs at a very bad but traditional Auburn team.

IU's schedule has got to be the worst of major conference teams. They have just one chance to prove their worthy of any major bowl game and that is OSU.

As for Louisville, the Cards still have a game remaining against a ranked team in Pittsburgh. Everyone who has watched Louisville this season and saw those three losses, know just how close they could be undefeated.

I agree as well. Not only are we a good team but Vandy is too. I know most think of Vandy as a SEC punching bag, but they have really turned it around this year.

i've found that our history, over time, usually means if we get ranked we get big headed and immediately lose so let's hope not

Dude....really?? No!
Someone needs tell Sagarin.

He had us top. 25 before the game,( and only a 5 pt dog straight up) This morning we are 22 and CU is 20 and now a 1pt fav.

His figures are respected and considered by many betting services.

I don’t think we will be ranked because of the ACC “status”.

But we easily “could” be in an unbiased setting.

Lost:
10 TAMU
Both 11’s (Clem, Iowa St)
17 Kansas St
18 Pitt
24 Illinois (3 losses now)

No others have more than two L’s now

Even though we lost to #6, 8, and 20 by one score each we will be left out IMO.

And I truly hope we aren’t.

This team can’t get “cocky”.

I just don't get this attitude. Is every Louisville football team going to underperform when they're ranked? This notion that the Cards will falter when ranked because that happened before in Louisville history is frankly, silly.

The three loses this season had nothing to do with being "cocky" because we were ranked. There are several reasons but that's not one of them.

Being ranked is a reward for winning and that is the whole purpose of playing. Why would any fan prefer not to be ranked? I just don't get it.

I want Louisville football in the top 5 every season, but I would accept the top 25 because that would mean we're winning.
Ultimately, “ranking” is just somebody’s opinion. It really means nothing.

I disagree. It may not mean nothing for post season positioning, but it means a lot for both the players and the fans. It's like a grading system and if you're in the top 25, you're getting good grades.

Because something has happened more than once is one good reason for it to not be “silly”.

They may very well continue to play their guts out, and I hope they do.

Many of these guys are playing for today’s money, and tomorrow’s money. NOT for the name on the front of the jersey. We don’t have the rep for them to think UofL is more important than they are.

Most are of the “me” generation. Many of them “quit” so as to not hurt their potential. We’ve had one already.

So to say they can’t get cocky is just…..silly.

Different times, different players and TOTALLY different fan attitudes.

Well, if that's the case aren't we fans silly caring about if they win or not? What's the point if it's not about team?

It's up to the coaches, especially the head coach, to have the players wanting to win for the front of the jersey. If that's not the case here at UofL, it won't matter what we fans say.

It’s ironic you asked that.

I have caught myself being far less “involved “ than in the past.

I went fishing during the ND game. Should’ve during SMU.

Players getting paid, then quitting, get kicked out of games for playing real FB, double PI calls, and phantom penalty reversals, has busted a whole lot of my give a damn.

I hope they do well. Even great.

But if they don’t, there’s always fishing.

I do have to agree with fishing. I would rather be out on the lake than watching a game on TV.

Not due to you personally, but that sentiment is at the root of a lot of our financial problems…

Moving 700 miles from Louisville made it easier to “distance” myself from something I NEVER thought I’d become “casual” about.

Starting with Bob Weber I’ve put a lot of money and a lot of miles into this program. I maintain my Lifetime Seats still.

But the last decade hasn’t been fun and has done much to dampen my enthusiasm. For so long it seemed UofL didn’t care, so why should I?

Hopefully, we are back on track, but my enthusiasm isn’t. (Same thing happened with NASCAR for me when they went “civilized”.

That said, we are now positioned where anything less than a PO spot is ho-hum.

I sort of miss the days of not knowing even IF we were going to a bowl, tickled to death to get one, then bitching about the one we got. 🤣

As said earlier, times change. Now I’m a bad fan that I used to bitch about.

Well said Rollem; your expressions reflect mine, and I suspect that Zipp’s reply to your post is accurate as well, as it contributes to the reduction in financial support from a lot of UL fans.

While I go back to the Frank Camp era in football, and the Peck Hickman era in BB; I became close friends with Bob Weber (God rest his soul), great person and was a great football coach who was deprived of the resources necessary to elevate UL further. I credit Bob for my introduction into financial investment of UL football.

I gave up my season tickets, along with my football & basketball Suites almost 10 years ago, for reasons that had nothing to do with my allegiance to UL. I was ready to return as a contributor at the bequest of TJ, until he left rather abruptly.

The subsequent introduction of NIL & Portal pushed me away even further, but hiring Brohm and Pat Kelsey is attracting me back in. I suppose that makes me a “fair-weather fan”.

Well, my question was answered. Cards are #22 in the playoff rankings.
So this question is not entirely directed to you but was wondering if the Cards were so much disrespected by ACC officials, how is it they are the only 3 loss team in the top 25? Wouldn't the ACC want as many teams as they can get in the top 25 or are we winning in spite of the conspiracy against us?
