We are now 2 and 2

Let’s not pretend that we weren’t having some concerns before this last couple of games. I’m still puzzled by the end of 2016..

I'm really not sure why some of our fans are puzzled by the "collapse" at the end of 2016.

Before the loss to Houston, we were in uncharted territory for the program ... still a playoff contender despite having one loss. There were several players on that team (especially on defense) who were playing through injuries just because we were still in playoff contention. Then we go to Houston and get flattened by a good Houston team, effectively ending our playoff chances.

At that point, the players who were playing despite injury shut it down. I'm pretty sure Harvey-Clemons didn't play another snap after that Houston game. The defense clearly didn't show up against UK, because the offense did quite enough to win that game, with one exception: the Achilles heel for that team all year was lost fumbles.

In the bowl game, we had our chances against one of the best defenses in college football, trailing just 16-6 at the half, but we just couldn't muster an offense. It was pretty clear that LSU was very fired up and determined to shut down the reigning Heisman trophy winner, and they did.

End of the day, Bobby Petrino is getting out coached. And if it looks like it, feels like it, and smells like it, then it is it! Bobby 2.0 is failing the stiff test. Just saying. And our team currently looks like it!

Bobby isn't acting like he even cares, I think TJ getting axed really affected his motivation to win for this university. Looks like he's mailing it in and enjoying the grandkids.

I will agree that he’s being outcoached in the sense that he is very much an offensive-minded coach who is also very QB-centric, and this year the position we are struggling at the most is at the QB spot.

To say that he doesn’t care and that he’s mailing it in is preposterous.

color me preposterous then, but your explanation is hard to swallow; a QB specialist HC (which I totally agree with, history can't be argued here) that produces this product? These kids are ill prepared, every QB CPB has ever coached (not just the starters, everybody) was prepared...why not now? I can understand the O-line, or D-backs, or RB's not prepared or under performing, not the QB...not under CBP...the leadership at UofL has been a trainwreck and to say TJ and CBP were close is an understatement. It makes the most sense to me. Motivation is hard to fake.

I understand what you're saying ... the thought has crossed my mind that, in response to Jurich being fired, he might want to force UofL to buy him out and then either retire or go coach somewhere else.

It's just that I don't really see "ill-prepared" when I look at these QB's. Yes, I see an inexperienced QB (Jawon Pass) not recognizing a well-disguised zone that looks like man-to-man coverage (against Alabama). I also see a frustrated Jawon taking a sack against WKU and forcing throws into coverage (against Indiana State and Virginia). And I see the same downfield plays wide open that are being dropped by veteran junior and senior wide receivers. When I see wide receivers dropping passes like that, I immediately think that they skipped voluntary workouts this summer, which in the case of Jaylen Smith makes complete sense, since he's recovering from an appendectomy.

Healthy wide receivers skipping voluntary workouts would point to a lack of motivation - from both the players and the coaches in terms of holding the wide receivers accountable.
