LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Add Myisha Hines-Allen to the list of Cardinals competing for a spot to represent USA Basketball this summer.
The University of Louisville women’s basketball team’s rising sophomore is one of 54 players who accepted an invitation on Wednesday to attend the 2015 USA Basketball Women’s Pan American Games and World University Games Team trials from May 14-17 at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Trials will be used to determine the rosters for the 2015 U.S. Pan American Women's Basketball Team and the 2015 USA Women's World University Games Team. The 12 members of each squad, or finalists for each team, will be announced on the morning of May 17.
Hines-Allen, a third team Full Court Freshman All-American and all-ACC freshman team selection by the coaches, capped her first season at Louisville averaging 11.8 points and 4.9 rebounds. She connected on 174 field goals, the sixth most by a freshman in program history. The Montclair, N.J., native, who scored in double digits in 21 games, hit 55.8 percent of her shots this year, good enough for fourth in the ACC and 13th nationally.
Trials begin with an 8:30-10:15 p.m. session on May 14, followed by sessions at 12-2 p.m. and 7:30-9:30 p.m. on May 15 and 16.
The Pan American Games and World University Games team trials will take place on the same days as the 2015 USA Women's U-19 World Championship Team Trials, although at different times. Several U-19 participants, because they have played a year of college basketball, are eligible for the Pan American and World University Games competitions.
The selected U.S. Pan American Women’s Basketball Team players and coaches will return to Colorado on July 3 for the start of training camp and will depart for the competition in Toronto, Canada, on July 8. The 2015 Pan American Games women’s basketball competition will take place July 16-20.
The selected USA players and coaches for the 2015 USA World University Games Team will return to Colorado Springs for training camp on June 18-July 2, before departing for the event. The 2015 World University Games women’s basketball competition will be held July 4-13 in Gwangju, South Korea.
