UofL Softball advances in NCAA Tourney...

tenor.gif

Twice a day.

(Sorry I'm early...)

You're incredibly fascinated with me. Kinda creepy...

Multiple times on here you have posted that people are “fascinated”, “obsessed”, etc with you. I find that creepy. Anyways, sorry my attempt at a little levity fell short for you.

Back to softball - pretty awesome that they are one win away from the Super Regional. Has that happened before? If so, how long ago?

Hey guys can we get back to the subject at hand, please. How about ‘dem ladies!...
I'd love to, but some people can't post here without getting personal. In fact, they even initiate the subject as this guy did again...

It looks like the softball program has never made it a Super Regional. More evidence of the good hire that Tyra made.
A good hire is demonstrated by multiple good or better seasons over a short time frame. At this point, we've simply had a good season. A good coach is similarly proven, i.e., multiple good or better seasons.

The ability to hire good coaches is demonstrated by multiple good coaching hires.

Random results are why you undertake the study of probability and statistics. One data point may be encouraging, but it's one data point. My attitude at this time is "so far so good"...

There’s a lot of good things happening at the University of Louisville these days…

Starting with the athletic department and the subject of this thread – namely the women’s softball team. Congratulations to everyone involved with the softball program for a good season, the coaches, the players, the groundskeepers at the stadium, everyone… including, yes, athletic director Tyra.

The baseball team won the regular season ACC and looks poised to do good things in post-season play. The men’s basketball program appears on the upswing. The football program looks to be in for a long rebuild, but it’s hard not to see some significant positive steps there. Jeff Walz and the women’s basketball program are simply reloading. Seems like there is good news virtually across the board.

On the academic side, President Bendapudi is off to a good start and recently reached a major deal with IBM, of all companies. Even the CJ has just checked-in with a major story about the upswing in donations recently following multiple scandals.

There’s no reason not to congratulate everyone involved for all of these successes. And that would include Tom Jurich, who laid a foundation for the current athletic success, but who is also no longer around. Athletics is very much a “what have you done lately” business, so while it is true that time will tell just how good of a hire Holly Aprile is as the softball coach, I think it’s worth congratulating her and the team on their success this season, and wishing them well in the game tonight. Go Cards!

Most of that long narrative is what the old regime put in place. And all of it was made possible by the old regime.

If anyone really wants to talk about money--today--we can also go down that rat hole. Let me know...

Not sure what kind of foundation you are talking about with Football and Basketball, I would say the previous administration did a lot of damage to the two only 2 revenue sports which is a significant deal. Both were/ are in complete rebuild mode.

The main thing is the program and University is moving forward maybe we should too,

I watched the softball game last night. They need Video Review. [Ref, ump or whatever] made a bad call when he said we were out after the video clearly shows the NW player jumped and her foot was not on the bag before our girl tagged base. [Ref, ump or whatever] is human and could not have seen that without review. But it was at a critical time in the game and could have affected the outcome.

You're right. Two losing basketball season in three years prior was a great starting point for Jurich to build from.

I was also pretty happy playing football teams like UAB, Army, and Tulane in Conference USA, but WTF do I know.

And I am moving forward--you're the guy reflecting on the past...

It hurt in two ways - removed the lead runner from 3rd base plus gave us one less out to work with. The announcers said the call was made by the home plate umpire while the 3rd base umpire was closer and it was his base to call.

Definitely a bad call, and it was costly. They should use replay reviews in the softball tourney.

Huge call. Would have been bases loaded with no outs. The chances cards would have scored at least one(or more) is big. So many ways to score from 3rd with no outs. But 1st and second with 1 out means you need a hit, which we didn't manage.

But congrats to cards and coach holly. They just went as far as any UofL softball team ever has in her first year. I think more is to come.

Then pack up your uahkay backpack and leave. THIS is a UofL site. And thanks in advance.

This seems more like a Tom Jurich fan club, where all of you guys can use your tears as lubricant for one giant circle jerk having a shrine of him in his turtle neck in the middle. Lol

Oh and:

Bay Area! Also, most people that work out here and make good money such as myself get up by 6 am. Pro tip, little buddy.

In honor of Coach Crum (Get Well Soon Denny!), I would like to correct the obvious errors here… Denny did not coach the team to two losing seasons in three years, it was actually two of his last four seasons. Certainly, a relatively small distinction, but as with other times when I have reviewed some of the statistics you have presented as fact, I find an error, and that’s the case once again.

But more importantly, when talking about what Tom Jurich “built” for the basketball program, you have also ignored the shape that he left the program in at the end of his tenure. A post-season ban, reduced scholarships, and loss of a title are things that matter to me, but what do I know.

And in a thread that was about the success of the women’s softball team this year (Way to go, girls!), we should all be able to congratulate and acknowledge everyone involved, including the coaches, the players, the trainers, the AD who hired the coach, and yes, the previous AD who laid the foundation. Simply acknowledging the positive impact of the current AD doesn’t detract from the accomplishments of the previous AD. I agree, let’s move forward.

The one scholarship reduction for two years ended with Crum's last season, and I believe the probation ended in September of 2001, shortly after Pitino arrived. If you are referring to the supposed 2 losing seasons in 3 years versus the actual of 2 in 4 years as being nitpicky, no real disagreement. But there's really no comparison between the NCAA sanctions at the end of the 90's versus the more recent ones.

If you'd like to debate Jurich's accomplishments, start a new thread and get ready for some fun. Your buddy, cycle, simply wanted to talk about football and basketball. I'd like to make it a more comprehensive analysis of the state of athletics when Jurich got here vs. when he left. That's one debate I have no chance of losing.

And LOL at you finding errors in my work "again"...

LOL, as ill-equpped as a slapd!ck is, aren't you better served trying to debate LPT ancient history like basketball titles?

(It's actually MORE than a decade now...)

Some “fans” just can’t accept the present.

Well another issue that was “resolved” by the Jurich years was graduation rates. God bless Denny but his teams were nothing short of awful when it came to academics. Even though CRP is pretty much a snake his teams had very good graduation rates and there were very little academic issues during his tenure. And that all occurred under Tom Jurich’s watch. That goes for football and all other sports as well. Tom Jurich was an outstanding AD but not a perfect human being. He made mistakes and there is no getting away from that but he should have something named after him and sooner rather than later. I think that just might happen under Vince Tyra’s leadership. I think the mods should demand that when someone on these boards makes accusations of criminal activity on the part of our AD that they come forth with their evidence, OR just STFU.

That’s a whole lot of writing to basically just state that you love Tom Jurich. His “mistakes” caused us great turmoil that we’re still dealing with. Now quit crying your eyes out or follow another program. Con boy isn’t getting his job back, he was fired for a reason. Misappropriation of funds and nepotism was running rampant through the Athletics Department, and things finally caught up with Turtleneck. Glad that crooked era is done with, so we can restore integrity to our program and not be looked at as the laughing stock of college athletics. Tyra really is doing a bang up job, glad to have him as the AD. You guys keep kicking and screaming though, it’s hilarious to watch your “fandom” fly right out of the window.

You have nothing but tears for your hero. Discourse doesn’t exist in your “realm”. Just recycled rhetoric and memes.

Well as a uahkay/cayut fan you “must” have some evidence of all the misdeeds by Tom Jurich. Why don’t you grow a pair and come forth with your direct accusations of exactly what criminal activity actually occurred under his leadership. Or just shut the hell up you stupid liar.

Keep saying that, it doesn’t make it true. Why don’t you accept the fact that your savior is not part of the Univerisity of Louisville, and you’re a bigger fan of him than the program. I know it’s a tough pill to swallow, but I’m sure you’ve swallowed bigger things. :)

His lack of leadership and oversight were atrocious. Karen Sypher scandal, Katina Powel, then the FBI probe. Yeah, little Turtleneck didn’t know a thing...

Delusion is strong with you fools. It’s comical.

You have no evidence Jurich knew about and approved any of that stuff. Just what you wanna believe.

The clowns you now have in charge thought about what they had done, they rang up Jurich BEFORE he filed a lawsuit, and they asked "would you accept $7,000,000 and go away quietly?" Not because they wanted to, but because clown lawyers said they needed to.

And "Vince" hasn't come in and raised $7,000 of new money--because he doesn't have a clue what being an AD means. He just tries to get people like you to like him. Con men can always spot an easy mark--California's full of them which is why you guys live there happily...
