I will make a very simple observation that should be pretty obvious...but this is the second consecutive trip to Lexington where UK rolled over on their home turf. Two years ago they got staked to the big early lead, Lamar brings us back, and they spent the second half missing tackles defensively and dropping passes offensively in gratitude of finally getting their guy Barker in at QB; Stoops was sort of at his last rope with the bonus of last year for a fourth year.

...but this year? That is what quit looks like defensively. It was like watching a bully after getting bitch slapped in front of everybody he'd been pushing around for years. There is a clear disconnect in their program between Stoops and his players.

But the kids from Louisville that play there just recently said it’s like a family in Lexington. A much better atmosphere than at UofL.

Sounds like they weren’t quite ready to be treated as adults and needed some more coddling. If that’s a family, then #34 must be the psychopathic Uncle and Stoops the Grandfather that spoils the children with BS.

I sort of disagree. The players for UK didn't quit, they just mostly aren't any good. They didn't face many offenses on their schedule with the skill/speed they saw Saturday, and just couldn't do anything about it.

The staff for UK DID quit. They kept the ball on the ground in the 2nd half and did not attempt to get back into the game through the air- because they wanted to avoid giving up 50-70 points obviously.

It's just amateur hour over there, or... status quo.

I don't see it as avoiding a 50 point loss, I see it as the QB can not throw the ball more than 5 yards down field and the RB is the only offense. They have played conservative all year didn't think stoops and his ego would change that for this game.

The UK fans around me were pretty disgusted that they kept running Snell til the very end. The guy is a Hoss and we couldn't stop him; it would have the perfect offense with a lead. But that wasn't close to being the quick strike offense they needed to get back in the game from so far down.

Ok I will be blasted for this and I don’t have any sympathy at all for the kitties, but how their season unfolded, was it not very similar to our demise at the end of the season?

Stoops ran Snell into the ground. During his heavy first half work load, the UK fans I were with said "he's going to get hurt if they keep giving him the ball." Very next play, Snell gets tackled and rolls an ankle. I'm still chuckling over Snell's L's down after his 4th quarter TD.

The difference is the Mildcats so called collapse was not a collapse at all. It was just a continuation of their season’s heartstopping wins over So. Miss, Eastern Michigan, EKU and the worst Tennessee team in history,etc....They were blown out by the only 3 good teams that they played:

45-7 to Mississippi St
42-13 to Georgia
44-17 to Louisville

2016 Louisville had a seriously high perch to fall from last year after reaching the Top 5 while blowing out FSU and NC State and taking National Champion Clemson to the wire in Death Valley.

No points either to the Slappies for beating any other SEC East team with inflated records early in the year.

LPT's problems are several IMO...
  • Their talent is overrated, which is ironic considering that recruiting is supposedly Stupes' strength.
  • Stupes is not a good defensive coach even though that's the side of the ball where he cut his teeth--meaning the guy essentially brings no coaching ability to the table.
  • He wants to play more of a manage-the-game offense to help his defense.
A pretty bleak mix of characteristics.

If you have the replay handy watch how conservative his defense lined up in the Red Zone against us especially on a 2nd and 4 from about the 20. That was the play that Reggie took a handoff and walked into the end zone. We had 2 Running backs in the backfield with Lamar and they ran only a 6 man front with 2 Safeties back and the Corners playing way off the receivers.

Skeered defense indeed.

LOL I remember that now that you mentioned it. I LOL and thought to myself, SCOREBOARD!! What a tool. Good player and all but damn that was a stupid thing to do when the other team has control of the game.
