Louisville, Arky, UK, and even Wash St lost their entire teams to the portal or something else after their coaching changes. Will be kind of interesting to see how they all do with the rebuilds.
I would think we could out recruit those teams..
Incarnate word? They were the only team on the list with a worse record than Louisville.OK Sesame Street kids…one of these schools is not like the others. Can you find the one that is different??
I wonder if the staff is planning on starting Chucky and Koren together. Probably wouldn’t be the case if we landed Deivon Smith. but would be the case if we got this guy
CPK seems intent on having four true guards. Why more guards?
We all are getting or have been feeling similar. With the work ethic CPK and his staff have shown so far, I think they'll land a few bigs.Getting anxious for some big guys.
uk once had the tallest team in history of i think both college and the pros and they still lost. chill out and let the man recruit what he wants and not what you want.We need to get taller not shorter!
😂 It’s not like I’m in his ear telling him what to recruit. Nor does he get on here for advice it’s a freaking message board 😂🤣😂 not an instruction manual for recruiting.uk once had the tallest team in history of i think both college and the pros and they still lost. chill out and let the man recruit what he wants and not what you want.
but again, based on what you and what other fans think yall want, but maybe not what the coach wants. big men score 2 pointers, smaller guys score 3. he wants bigs who can shoot the three so not 7 footers but mobile buys who have wingspans and can spread the floor. he wants threes raining down, not big fat dudes who can't shoot from the outside. he wants bigs who can pass. so specific types of bigs, not just bigs. so everyone saying we need more bigs isn't paying attention to what he runs. i believe he even likes a four guard style with shooters and one rebounder. so to keep saying we need bigs when bigs aren't always his style seems to be saying i don't care what the coach wants, i think we should have bigs so the coach should go get the bigs i want. plus there are about 330 other schools int his country with boosters who have money who are also probably saying we need bigs. here's my take, we need ball protectors, we need defensive players, we need shooters, we need ball high assist guys, we need free throw shooters, we need experience and we need intelligence on the floor, and we need all of this before we need a friggin big. that's why, to me, it's dumb, moronic, idiotic, and uniformed to keep saying we need bigs. we need a shitton of other things first. but hey, who am i but just a dude paying attention to everything and not just running around saying, duh, we need bigs, that's the last thing we need, there are 10 other important areas first that needs to be taken care of. i'll take four more good guards and wings before a big. we don't need anyone over 6'9" to run PK's system. so let's jsut let the coach build his team before we start suggesting to him how to build his team. if come december we're getting crushed on the boards and all our shots blocked then you can say i told you so. but until then, let's let him do the grocery shopping😂 It’s not like I’m in his ear telling him what to recruit. It was an observation, but I know I’m not the only one who thinks that UofL needs more front court players
Wow! Talk about taking your opinion too seriously. It’s not even worth reading your long winded essay, and rivals message board doesn’t need you to be a hallway monitor. 😂but again, based on what you and what other fans think yall want, but maybe not what the coach wants. big men score 2 pointers, smaller guys score 3. he wants bigs who can shoot the three so not 7 footers but mobile buys who have wingspans and can spread the floor. he wants threes raining down, not big fat dudes who can't shoot from the outside. he wants bigs who can pass. so specific types of bigs, not just bigs. so everyone saying we need more bigs isn't paying attention to what he runs. i believe he even likes a four guard style with shooters and one rebounder. so to keep saying we need bigs when bigs aren't always his style seems to be saying i don't care what the coach wants, i think we should have bigs so the coach should go get the bigs i want. plus there are about 330 other schools int his country with boosters who have money who are also probably saying we need bigs. here's my take, we need ball protectors, we need defensive players, we need shooters, we need ball high assist guys, we need free throw shooters, we need experience and we need intelligence on the floor, and we need all of this before we need a friggin big. that's why, to me, it's dumb, moronic, idiotic, and uniformed to keep saying we need bigs. we need a shitton of other things first. but hey, who am i but just a dude paying attention to everything and not just running around saying, duh, we need bigs, that's the last thing we need, there are 10 other important areas first that needs to be taken care of. i'll take four more good guards and wings before a big. we don't need anyone over 6'9" to run PK's system. so let's jsut let the coach build his team before we start suggesting to him how to build his team. if come december we're getting crushed on the boards and all our shots blocked then you can say i told you so. but until then, let's let him do the grocery shopping
I agree that it’s definitely not a height thing, but 5’11 is a avg height for a women’s basketball player.I wouldn’t get too worried about height. Skilled height is another thing. How big kids have a really good low post game? It is a pretty small percentage. That is why there is a premium on those players. People tend to over value height. We have several 6-11 guys that were just average.
They do need to get 2 for the PF spot and another 5. They can be 6-8 to 6-9 if they can play..
The key to the smaller bigs is they have to be strong and good in the paint. They also have to be willing defenders and rebounders. People get enamored with the stretch 4’s but if they don’t defend or rebound it won’t work.I agree that it’s definitely not a height thing, but 5’11 is a avg height for a women’s basketball player.
I actually prefer a 6-8 or 6-9 apposed to a lumbering 7 footer unless they are Jokic of course
I don't think Withers is a good example... He played better at UNC at the 4.The key to the smaller bigs is they have to be strong and good in the paint. They also have to be willing defenders and rebounders. People get enamored with the stretch 4’s but if they don’t defend or rebound it won’t work.
Jaylen Withers best year was when he was forced to play the 5. He was good there. As soon as he went to be the stretch 4 he was immediately exposed.
Trez is a perfect example at the beginning of his final year he was stretching out to the 3, but then he went back to the paint. The key to the smaller bigs is they have to be strong and good in the paint. Look at Louisville freshman year when he was forced into the C spot.I don't think Withers is a good example... He played better at UNC at the 4.
And look at his response, he made it clear he didn't want to play the 5 so he could shoot more from the perimeter plus he didn't like the physical contact underneath.Look at Louisville freshman year when he was forced into the C spot.
10 pt 7.7 rebounds. He was really good for a freshman
I’ve been a UofL fan for as long as I can remember and I’m in my 40s. Trez is definitely on my list as one of my favorites and it’s because of that reason he wanted to rip off the rim every chance he could. I love when a player goes all out and is a dog on the court. NO FEARFinesse, finesse, finesse... give me a Montrezl Harrell who wanted to rip the rim down on every dunk.
I was describing the traits of a smaller big and how they can be effective. Withers was undersized but he performed well. I don’t care how he reacted because my point wasn’t if he liked it. His skill set was a 5 not a 4 but people wanted him at the 4. Harrells people wanted him at the 4 but he was a 5. He was smart enough to stick with his skill set.And look at his response, he made it clear he didn't want to play the 5 so he could shoot more from the perimeter plus he didn't like the physical contact underneath.
Harrell played the 4 it’s not an opinion. It’s tough to put a label on a lot of players nowadays since they are so versatile.Harrells people wanted him at the 4 but he was a 5.
I think you need to brush up on your basketball memory. Harrell played pretty much PF his career at U of L. In 2012, we had Dieng and Mathiang who played the post. In 2013, again we had Mathiang. In 2014, we had Mathiang, Mahmoud and Onaku. This led Harrell to win the Karl Malone most outstanding PF in college basketball his last year. Wasn't about skill set. It was about playing the position that best helped your team.I was describing the traits of a smaller big and how they can be effective. Withers was undersized but he performed well. Pryor is a good stretch four. He has the skills to be a 4 or 5.
Mathiang was not on our team in 2012 and 13. His freshman year was 13-14, the year after the title.I think you need to brush up on your basketball memory.
