#3. This was uk's first road game on the opposing team's home court.
#2.uk's front court doesn't play good defense and really sucks when forced to play half court offense or defense.
And the #1.Reason uk lost was because Louisville forced cal to actually have to coach. Everytime even with uk's superior talent that a team forces cal to coach he struggles. Tonight was just the latest example of cal's poor bench coaching❗️

Agree with your #1 & #2 above....
You could also state that UK's talent
lies in undeveloped FR. who will get
better, but are playing because that's
what we have. (signing OAD will do that)
Won't argue that RP is not the better coach,
but experience talent won the game.
A 3 pt loss to a top 10 team on the road = just
one thing ..........1 L......has no meaning when
we meet again.

Poppycat,

Consider this. U of L's most experienced returning player, Snider totaled 0 points in the game last year. Mitchell, JJ and Anas barely contributed. Mango did not play the majority of the games last year and only Levitch (primarily a sub) and Hicks (5th year transfer) are seniors. This is not one of Ricks most experienced teams to come along.

I also think Munk scoring 47 against UNC hurt also them. Tried to force things at times. Hard to duplicate that effort.

UK does not have a true center. YES BAM, CAN DUNK, and thats all he can do. He has no jumpshot, and we all know he sucks at FT's. Look at the past great UK centers. They could shoot anywhere on the court and spread the defense. WELL, this UK team is easy to defend against because they have no true center.

I think Louisville will be a contender by the end of the year. We still have a long way to go but we are getting better as a team every week. Because of our schedule from now until the playoffs we will take some losses. The toughness of our schedule will make us the better team. Once Big Blew gets into SEC play they get nothing from it except a bunch of easy wins.

Three reasons why the yuts lost.

1. They have no 4 - either offensively or defensively that makes a difference. There's no reason to guard Gabriel away from the basket because he can't shoot, meaning you can double Adabeyo.

2. Monk played over-hyped and selfishly. You could tell he was a little too amped when he gave the crowd the hush signal after his first jumper.

3. Sweaty Cal stays with his guards too long - even in an off night. Interestingly he will yank forwards and centers out at the drop of a hat but, not guards. Cost them a championship when he did it with the twins.

Four reasons why UofL won.

1. The high ball screen exploited their inexperience on defense. Adabeyo didn't communicate to Fox whether to get over the top of it or, slip underneath.

2. Snider took the game personally and played tougher than anyone on the yut side.

3. Guts and the Law of averages. The breaks that have gone against UofL the last few times - some self inflicted and some random - went the Cards way last night. Mitchell stepping up and delivering those two free throws was incredibly clutch.

4. The crowd was incredible and got to the yuts.

Four reasons that they won by three Points? UK lost to a top ten ranked team on their home court. One simple play here or there and it could have gone the other way. Not bad for December. Congrats on this one, hope to see you again in March or April, .

I thought the single biggest mismatch in the game was with Briscoe; every drive he took into traffic was a drive into traffic NOT taken by Fox. Every jumpshot he took was a jumpshot being taken by somebody not named Monk or Willis. Briscoe's game is the game of a sixth man meant to plug in for a Monk with foul trouble or a laudable three man (which Kentucky doesn't have unless it's Mulder) for minutes. He's really tough defensively and provides some protection for Monk, but the extent he took things upon himself to generate offense for Kentucky were a general fail.

So single digit wins (or losses) don't have multiple factors causing the outcome? Using your logic, a simple play here or there and the margin of victory could have been 10.

Congrats to 'you' for them keeping it close. Hope uk loses in the 1st round.

Of the NIT...

My.02 as to why UK lost.

#1. UofL's defense. They'd not seen defense like that before. It frustrated them, got in their head and kept them from developing any kind of rhythm.

#2. Rebounds: UK only has one really good post player in Bam. While he's good, he's also limited. UofL just kept rotating fresh 6'10 guys on him (Spalding, Johnson, Anas,) and denied him the ball, and got rebounds over him because he was worn down.

#3. Cal got outcoached. Couldn't figure out how to stop the high ball screen all game. His team is spectacularly gifted offensively, but aren't very good defensively at all. Pitino took advantage of that. Pitino locked them down and frustrated them with pressure D all game, and ran offensive sets they couldn't figure out how to defend.
