I question the 3000 number. I mean It feels like a thousand posts in 4 years... but I dont think I've been over here enough for 3000.
I offer my services to mediate this debate. My credentials as a UK fan are impeccable and I am well liked on this board.

I've had hostage negotiation training which might be more appropriate in the near future considering the frustration some of the visitors are having over being rejected in their search for approval from their rivals fan base .

When Rafters slows down, this was supposed to be another outlet to talk hoops. Louisville will always be an interest of UK fans. Just as UK will always be an interest of U of L fans.
The point in all of this was one guy posted "I don't care if you come here as long as you're respectful."
But that's consistently not true. They consistently talk to us like dogs, while preaching this message of respect us.
I give Zipp all of the credit in the world for telling it like it is. The rest of you are just blowing hot air.

I know it can be frustrating to be Cat fan trying to Preach the Big Blue gospel to those who, for the most part will never convert or submit. All UK fans should read and understand the history of national socialism in post ww1 Germany. They understood that they did not need 100% participation to achieve their goals. In fact, less than 10% of the population were card carrying members of the party. Much like us Cat fans, a loud and dedicated minority can have the same effect as a passive majority.
So what do you think the reaction would be on Rupp Rafters/Uk forum if Zipp started posting over there acting friendly with all the Uk posters and claimed that all he wanted to do was "talk about basketball"? I mean you wouldn't think he was disingenuous right? None of you all would have a problem with that would you? There wouldn't be any insults thrown at him from anyone?
JohnKBA, you are a UK fan and you've been posting over here for a while now. I don't really have any problem with you posting over here because of the way you have conducted yourself. I see you debate with many on here, Zipp included, and you always seem to do so respectfully. In the past there have been others like Doc Darryl (whatever happened to him?) that were fine as well. I don't know what, if anything, you say about UofL on other boards but I haven't heard anything negative.
Also, and I don't see how so many Uk fans don't understand, this is a VERY trying time as a UofL fan right now. Nerves are frayed and frustrations are at an all time high. What was once a promising season is now rendered almost meaningless. The post season ban really hurts and we feel very bad for Lee and Lewis. Not to mention the looming threat of possibly more sanctions by the NCAA, the uncertainty of who will leave and who will stay, and a thousand other negative things that could happen.
So this is not your run of the mill middle of the conference season time of year. Its basically circle the wagons time. Tensions are running very high and most other Uk fans just can't seem to understand why most of us don't want to see a ton of them over here taking over threads, interjecting their opinions about what UofL/Pitino/Jurich/Players/The Fans should be doing, etc. Now is really NOT the time to be coming over here in droves. I mean if the situations were reversed I sure as heck would not go over to their forum and do the same as many of them have.

Shadow, that's really the point - they do understand and that's the only reason they're (I would say excluding JohnKBA) here - to pick at a scab. They won't come out and say it because they know that's a sure ban, so they play the angle "but I'm respectful", but all the while the only intention is to try and wallow in Louisville's misery.

I've been coming here off and on for a couple of years now. I was here a month or 2 back before Steelers decided a needed a timeout.
There is no playing an angle. One of your posters said they didn't care if we were here if we were respectful. So, I've pointed out that most of us are.
If you just hate us and don't want us here, don't act like our actions matter.

I don't hate anyone - particularly anonymous internet posters as that would be particularly silly. Even more silly is your consistent refusal to understand things that are being explained you in the most rudimentary of ways. Just for perspective, I spent about 2 minutes on your site and found a kentucky fan / poster being insulted when he - in the most respectful of manners - didn't agree that Pitino was a scumbag. Multiple posters told him (about 750 posts to his credit) that he was a "uavel troll" and that he needed to get off of "their board and go back to the Tard site".
I can't even imagine the response if a Louisville fan had gone there and respectfully posted something positive about Pitino. Oh wait a minute, yes I could...
It is an awful moment, watching UK fans pour in while we endure what shadow pointed out.

I don't know what you feel I don't understand. You keep saying I'm not smart enough to comprehend--but what in the hell are you even talking about me comprehending? What are you schooling me on? Why you don't want me here? I think we all got that hammered out the very first time someone with cats in their screen name clicked the submit button on a post.
I'm sure you have got the message loud and clear yet you keep coming back sounding unfulfilled that you can't find someone to like you.
If you want to talk Louisville basketball, football, whatever and you can be objective without becoming defensive and not attack people on a personal level you will find some sports fans on here more then willing.
But, you will still get an ear full from the diehards on here just like they receive on your board. If you can't grin and bear it don't be a glutton for punishment.
Thanks BP/Shadow - I've done my best to act like a guest should, glad you guys have seen it that way as well. I rarely post on Rafters, and when I do it's usually to call out a stupid UK fan for saying something stupid (which happens a lot over there.) The primary reason I don't like Rafters is that it's inundated with the worst part of the fanbase. The U of L Scout board is similar. This board seems to have the highest percentage of fans who are capable of a good conversation.
If you're a UK fan on this board, following a few simple guidelines will make your stay pleasant and lengthy;
- Don't be a douche
- Don't expect to have your back patted - you wouldn't go to a right wing christian board and expect people to high five you for being pro choice
- Pick and choose who you engage - there are some here who get a rise out of frustrating UK fans, let them have their fun with someone else
- Keep it above board - talking about specific games or players factually and respectfully is fine, but don't bring up scandals - we have plenty of skeletons in our closet too
