Syracuse at Louisville

Like what the offense is trying to do. You can tell they have been working on it. They need to head and shot fake a little so the opponent isn't sure what to expect.

Need someone other than Curry to make the 3 if we're going to take quick ones.

I’ve jinxed them … 17 points in those first 5 minutes, but now just 6 more in the next 11. Cards-Orange now tied at 23.

Ugh! I hate to keep calling out the same players but Juffermanns is just not ready for this level of basketball. I mean how poor must the other two freshman front court players be not to play before her?

Again, she’s a FR. She does some things well and the gets a bit nervous. I think the game, overall, is still moving too quickly for her. Same can be said for Randolph. Passing on the offensive side must improve. Along with passing up easy shots and then trying to make a tough pass resulting in a TO.

Good start to the second half! Jada with 3 straight 3’s and have opened up a 10 point lead, Woolley (Cuse leading scorer) is now injured.

Cards up 54-39. Really liking the way Jaleah Williams is playing lately. She’s got some great moves with the dribble, and she works very hard on the defensive end.

Cuse ended the 3rd on a 12-5 run to cut UofL’s lead to 8 (59-51). Woolley is back in for the Cuse and making an impact.

Amazing how unfocused and I hate to say it, dumb the Cards are playing in this 4th quarter. They're about to choke this game away.

It's so frustrating to watch because it should be easy to correct.

Well, she's here to play basketball and Coach Walz is depending on her when he puts her in. I know she's trying but she looks like she's unsure of herself.

Are the two other freshmen "bigs" redshirting?

Cards grind it out and win by 10. Both Harris and Williams notch double-doubles, with Williams also getting 7 assists.

Cuse may be 7-10, but they’ve played some very tough teams. Maryland (ranked 8th), Albany is 15-3, Creighton is 14-3, Notre Dame (3rd ranked), and FSU (14-4).

Unless the NCAA changes the rule for basketball, the only redshirt Hardy and Imfadon could get is a medical redshirt. Both of them are currently under the 30% threshold (9 games) for a medical redshirt, with Hardy having played 8 and Imfadon 6.

Without a medical reason, you cannot play any games during the season and earn a redshirt year in basketball - though it’s been proposed to implement a 33% (10 games) or less limit, similar to football.

I didn't realize both had played that many games. I haven't been able to watch many of the games, but I don't recall seeing them in the several I've watched. Definitely not redshirts.

In one stretch, the ladies went 7 minutes without scoring, and that occurred here at home. The good news however, there were periods where our Cards kept Syracuse from scoring at the same time ….. this team can use its athleticism to execute some pretty good defense at times. I went back thinking I would see some horrible shooting percentage, but at 44%, that is not horrible. We out-rebounded the Cuse, and that was the difference.

Unrelated, Oklahoma’s Payton Velhurst scored 38 points; sorry but that sort of explosive offensive addition back at UL would make this team a huge ACC threat.

Definitely were hot and cold in that game last night. First 5 minutes they scored 17 points. Next 10 minutes they had just 6. Then over the next 2 minutes they scored 10, and finished out the first half (3 minutes) without a point.

For the first 11 minutes of the second half, they exploded for 32 points, then went the next 6 minutes in the fourth quarter with no points. Then in the final 1:50 the Cards scored 7 points on 5 made free throws and a Cochran layup.

One RS’d last year and she is more of a project and ultimately may be more use to the team in practice. Hardy is FR. I am not sure if she is RSing or not. She has some serious hops - better than any player 6’1” or greater on our roster. I think with the Aussie, I agree, she looks unsure of herself at times. She suffers from what all of our bigs do - weak hands. I think she just needs time to grow into the game. Elif, to me, is much better this year than last. She still has her moment and still needs to get stronger. But, she is more confident on the court and makes some pretty good moves. We don’t have any leapers; which equates to a lack of athleticism in the front court. Jazmine exhibited the type of athleticism we are missing. She wasn’t huge but she could jump and she made an impact because of that alone.

That game was like riding a rollercoaster and not as much fun. We did "enough" to win and that is what counts. Hopefully we don't have a scoring drought, like tonight's, against a good team. GO CARDS!

I loved Jazz Jones and still find it hard to believe she didn't become a star.

You're dead on about the weak hands and lack of jumping. Both Harris and Cochran would be all-Americans if they were more athletic.

Elif has improved since earlier in the season, but she's the Noah Waterman of the women's team, and isn't a 3 point shooter but seems to believe she is.

I would like to see Walz give more PT to Berry and Arenas over Russell. I know they're smaller but Russell mostly shoots 3's anyway.

And let's get Curry going early in these games. Show her Dana Evans videos on how to get open for that 3 point shot.
