Some Non-Urban Universities Could Safely Open Earlier

I have a thesis that many of the major universities may be able to reopen safely, pretty early, as this virus wanes. I posted some of this on another thread, but much of that post is used here.

I suspect the universities located in less urban, less dense, areas may be able to open early. I theorize these areas have low numbers of elderly, and much more robust and healthy young populations.

I looked up some numbers using today's NYT virus Death stats. I use Death stats as opposed to Case stats.

What I suspected seems to be borne out by the numbers. The somewhat more out-of-the-way and less populated towns and counties which host many of the major P5 universities are faring comparatively well in terms of death count. The SEC's universities may lead those of other P5 conferences in this regard.

So, for instance, the University of Missouri, located in Columbia Missouri, has only recorded one single death in its entire host county (Boone County). It's death rate is 0.6 deaths per 100,000 population.

All of the SEC schools are listed here:

Alabama (Tuscaloosa County) Deaths: 0... Death Rate: 0.0
Arkansas (Washington County): Deaths: 2 ... Death Rate: 0.9
Auburn (Lee County) Deaths: 20... Death Rate: 12.6
Florida (Alachua County) Deaths: 1...Death Rate: 0.4
Georgia (Clarke County) Deaths: 13...Death Rate 10.4
Kentucky (Fayette County) Deaths: 8...Death Rate: 2.5
LSU (East Baton Rouge Parish) Deaths:100 ... Death Rate: 22.5
Mississippi (Lafayette County) Deaths: 3...Death Rate: 6.0
Mississippi State (Oktibbeha County) Deaths: 3...Death Rate: 6.0
Missouri (Boone County) Deaths: 1 ... Death Rate: 0.6
South Carolina (Richland County) Deaths: 17 ... Death Rate: 4.2
Tennessee (Knox County) Deaths: 4...Death Rate: 0.9
Texas A&M (Brazos County): Deaths: 16 ... Death Rate: 7.3
Vanderbilt (Davidson County) Deaths: 22...Death Rate 3.2

Only LSU, Auburn and Georgia have high Death Rates. For the other SEC schools, it would probably be just fine to bring them back in July/August.
