The University of Louisville softball team comes in as the No. 8 seed in the 2022 ACC Softball Tournament and will begin play today at 1 p.m. when they face ninth-seeded Syracuse at Pittsburgh's Vartabedian Field. The Cards bring a 27-24 overall record into the game. Louisville lost a three-game series at No. 20/21 Notre Dame to finish the season with a 10-14 mark in ACC play.

Pittsburgh is familiar territory for UofL head coach Holly Aprile, who spent 10 seasons (2009-18) as Pitt's head coach and five years (2004-08) as an assistant.

UofL is led offensively by graduate senior Carmyn Greenwood who hits at a .407 clip and is first in the ACC with 70 hits. She also leads the league with 54 runs, is second with 52 RBIs. These are career highs for her. . Entering the week, Greenwood stands third in the NCAA in triples (7) and fifth in total bases (144). She is also ranked in the top 20 in hits, doubles, slugging percentage, runs per game and RBIs.

Redshirt senior Taylor Roby has a career high 15 homer runs on the season, standing fourth on Louisville’s single season list. She needs one more to move into a tie for second the record is 17 homers set by Courtney Moore in the 2005 season. She's also UoflLs pitching "ace", with a circle record of 15-8

The Cards swept the Orange in their regular season series, winning 8-0, 4-1 and 3-2.

For the Cards to advance to playing top-seeded Virginia Tech on Thursday, they'll need to do three very basic things. Get on base, get the base-runners to home plate and score more than the Orange. A solid defensive effort would be a key also for the young infield that usually starts three freshmen.

Best of luck to UofL. This one will be shown on the ACC Network.

A 2-0 loss for Cards. Just one hit for Louisville. Disappointing...
