Could this be the reason why Russ can't get a real chance to make a NBA roster. The GM's don't want any players with a hint of sex scandals and maybe they were afraid of what happened today.

Russ Smith was there for all those years. How many times did he partake in these parties? I think NBA reps don't like the prospect that Russ would make these bad decisions over and over.

All Cards fans have been asking why Russ isn't at least some bench player on a weak team even though we think he could be a major player in the league. Maybe this is it. I'm sure he has been asked about those years by NBA teams. His answers may have effected his status, I don't know.

I have no confidence the appeal will be won. The NCAA is determined to slam UofL and in the process may have destroyed Smith's NBA career. I wonder how many nights Russ has cried himself to sleep for being so dumb. A few thrills have ruined in pro career and now his college accomplisments.

Sure, because the NBA is a bastion of morality and chastity belts

Exactly, like all the NBA players are choir boys! Please! Russ is struggling to get in the NBA because he is a shrimp. They have guys 6'6" who can do what he does. I wish him luck but he's tiny, and the GM's hold that against him. There hasn't been a virgin hit the NBA since A.J. Green, and he could have been a liar!!!

There are many players as small as Russ. That's not it and besides, Russ has not been given a real shot. That's been the questionable fact. Why not? He kills it in the D league but never gets a chance.

Of course NBA reps will close their eyes to some long athletic freak but not so much with a smaller player. Several NBA players have said Russ could be a very good NBA player and don't understand why he can't catch on.

If Russ took part repeatedly in those parties and the NBA know as much, that could be why he can't make a club.

I'm just trying to understand why Russ has never been given a real shot. I guess it could just be coincidence and of course I'm not privy to what kind of conversations he has had with NBA reps on the scandal. But it's not far fetched to think it's a possibility.

During the 1997 offseason, Iverson and his friends were stopped by policemen for speeding late at night and was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon and for possession of marijuana. He pleaded no contest and was sentenced to community service.
On February 24, 2004, Iverson urinated in a trash can at Bally's Atlantic City casino and was told by casino management not to return.
On December 9, 2005 after the Sixers defeated the Charlotte Bobcats, Iverson paid a late-night visit to the Trump Taj Mahal. After winning a hand at a three-card-stud poker table, Iverson was overpaid $10,000 in chips by a dealer. When the dealer quickly realized the mistake and requested the chips back, Iverson refused and a heated head-turning argument between him and casino staff began. Atlantic City casino regulations reportedly state that when a casino makes a payout mistake in favor of the gambler, he or she must return the money that they did not legitimately win by playing.
Also in 2005, Iverson's bodyguard Jason Kane was accused of assaulting a man at a Washington DC nightclub after the man, Marlin Godfrey, refused to leave the club's VIP section so Iverson's entourage could enter. Godfrey suffered a concussion, a ruptured eardrum, a burst blood vessel in his eye, a torn rotator cuff, cuts and bruises, and emotional injuries. Although Iverson did not touch Godfrey himself, Godfrey sued Iverson for the injuries caused by his bodyguard. In 2007 a jury awarded Godfrey $260,000. The United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit upheld the verdict in 2009.
In a Philadelphia Inquirer column published March 7, 2010, Stephen A. Smith wrote that according to "numerous NBA sources", Iverson would "either drink himself into oblivion or gamble his life away", and that Iverson had already been banned from casinos in Detroit and Atlantic City. Smith also wrote that Tawanna, his wife of eight years, had separated from him and filed for divorce, seeking custody of their five children, as well as child support and alimony payments.
In November 2010, Kate Fagan, a 76ers beat writer for the Inquirer reported that Iverson was "broke" and heavily in debt, "by all accounts except his own", and that a member of Iverson's family had previously contacted NBA teams about a contract for him, as he would not be able to pay that person without a contract.
In August 2011, an Ohio man sued Iverson for $2.5 million in damages, claiming he was assaulted by Iverson's security guard in a 2009 bar fight in Detroit. The federal judge dismissed the case, finding no evidence that Iverson or his bodyguard struck the plaintiff, Guy Walker.
Despite his lack of experience in the sport, in February 2012, towards the end of their regular season, the Rochester Lancers, a pro indoor soccer team made Iverson a contract offer for $20,000 (U.S.) per game with a bonus of $5,000 for every goal scored along with merchandise bonuses and the local hosting of his friends and family for the duration of his stay. Look guys it was just a theory on my part. I didn't say I knew it as truth. Like many fans, why Russ hasn't been given the chance despite his obvious ability has been perplexing. I never thought of this possibility until yesterday when I read Smith's name as one of the players who are in the NCAA report.

This notion that Russ is too sleight is a copout because of others NBA players like him. Now it may have nothing to do with the scandal but it wouldn't be a shocki if it was. That's all I'm saying.

Real, I should also take this advice myself. While it's pretty much your God-given right to, it's not always best to post what you think...

Maybe so, but I don't see how this is one of those times. I'm not taking a side or trying to call out Russ Smith. We don't know the names officially yet but Russ has been mentioned and if it's true, maybe this thing has more consequences than just the basketball program. Don't know why this would be so toxic on this board. I hope it's not true but it could be.
