Reyne Smith status

Could anybody tell looking at the Senior day ceremony if he was wearing a boot? If not,I'm expecting to at least see him dress tomorrow night.

According to what I read he was wearing a boot before and during the senior day game but after it was over he took it off at some point.

I guess we'll know tomorrow. I don't think he's gonna play. You gonna roll the dice with a huge piece of the puzzle? He has to be close to 💯

Ankle injuries are so unpredictable, particularly those “high ankle sprains”. When Reyne came out of the game, it did not appear to be severe, as he appeared to putting weight on the leg as he limped towards the bench. With that said, he has been off now for a week and I thought he would be practicing by now.

Stanford looked really good last night, hitting 11 threes; that might be more about a tired performance by Cal.

Boots are used all the time to just immobilize the ankle/foot - even for something minor. But, as mentioned, ankle injuries are tough. I’m on the side that says he should rest another day Unless he is 95% or better.

I think it was more Cal being without two key players in Blackshear and Wilkinson. Stanford's big man is very good but Louisville should take care of buisness. It probably won't be another 20 point win and Stanford will score more than 48 points, but Louisville should win.

You know Coach Kelsey has some things he's going to show Stanford he didn't last week. It's very unusual to play a team in back to back games.

As
Just rub some tussin on it and he’ll be good to go🙃
As much as I'd like to win the ACC Tournament, I'd much rather make some noise next week. He's likely not 100 percent and it's a huge risk if he's not. The lateral movement Reyne needs to get himself free and guard people could be compromised if he aggravates it. As far as next week, yeah sure, rub some horse liniment on it for all I care 🙂

A leg injury is impactful to a guy like Reyne because most of his shots are beyond the ARC and legs are a big part of successful long-range shooting. If he is not close to 100% I am sitting him if I am KP. As much as I would like to do well in the ACC Tournament, I am more interested in doing well in the NCAA Tournament.

To be honest,I think we caught a break that it happened when it did. If it happens first weekend of the Big Dance, then what.
Tbs,I hope it was not severe. That's really at least 14-17 days if it is.

No boot tonight as he left the hotel for the arena tonight. Looked to be walking very normal. Hopefully improving every day.

This will be unpopular but I think if Reyne was “close” and was cleared then he should’ve played. Competing for a conference championship is not something to take for granted. Obviously winning a natty is the ultimate goal but I think the risk was outweighed by the potential reward.

Wise decision to keep Reyne out; and from what I can interpret from the carefully worded comments from CPK …… Chucky is not 100% and could have used some time off as well.

Chucky definitely wasn't himself. He needs three days of relaxation before getting back at it.

Watch the video of Reyne himself... He said he wasn't ready, couldn't move well enough laterally.

Watch the video of him warming up... He was not in a full shooting motion, jumping only a couple of inches.

Much as I also would have loved for him to play, and as much as I think a fully healthy Reyne (or even a "close" 95 % Reyne) could have easily made a difference, the correct decision was to keep him out and continue to get him treatment with the goal of having him ready for next weekend. A Sweet 16 is definitely in reach.
