I’ve had some lengthy conversations this morning with a source close to the Louisville basketball program. Here’s some takeaways:
First off, I’ll be putting in a FutureCast for Rodney Rice to Louisville and I have a confidence level of around 7/10 on that. There’s still more to play out but Louisville is in a great spot and Pegues is doing a fantastic job here. There’s a confidence around the program regarding this recruitment.
I’m not sure if Louisville will add someone to this year’s roster or not as of now. (I lean towards they will, however.) They like where the roster stands as of today and will only take another piece if it’s someone who can immediately upgrade the roster. They’re not going to take someone just to take one. It’ll be a guard or big that they add if they do.
Look for Louisville to try to add Rice and a big man next year along with the possibility of grad transfers.
Louisville is recruiting Reed Sheppard hard and I’d be surprised if he doesn’t have an offer by the end of the summer. They love his ability to impact the game in multiple ways and his basketball IQ. He’s been playing great of late.
Louisville and Kyle Filipowski have cooled off, and that’s a shame because he’s been playing like a future pro lately.
