Puzzling, the strength coach

Over the last 45 years I believe uk has had about 10 winning seasons. Someone posted that since 1978, uk has not had a winning record in conference. Yet, U.K. still has decent recruiting classes. What puzzles me is why the recruits still come. I guess the in-state guys that are out in the state have been pumped with sunshine as has been discussed on their board tonight. The ones from out of state are being promised immediate playing time since they can beat out the current roster. OH! And can play in the SEC. A couple examples is Jason Hatcher picking them over USC. Another is Matt Elam picking them over Alabama. An example of bad coaching off the field, is Elam. If he were at any other school, the strength coach would have him drop to about 320 and add muscle. There are many other examples. One thing I know for sure is everyone of the new recruits will have flunked history.

GO CARDS!!!

Player development in general is severely lacking over there. Since Brooks left can you really name a player who improved over there? Not ironically the nearest example of improvement was in Towles the year he won the starting job, and he sought out outside coaching to make that improvement. The coaching situation over there lacks significant maturity and experiance, they put all there marbles in recruiting and fail significantly in development.

We have a winner. To build a program at UK or Louisville player development is a requirement. They brought in the new performance guy which on paper makes a ton of sense but it has proven to be very difficult to execute. What if one of you 4 star/5 star recruits don't want to follow the program? Then the staff decides they want to play them anyway. The most important position to develop is the QB. They have failed. I was shocked how bad Barker looked yesterday. He wasn't ready. Louisville has had its struggles at that position but at least when they make a switch the other QB is ready.

Matt Elam can now eat six pizzas at one sitting, up from five. So there. :p:p

Did anyone see Elam run off the field only to be shoved back out there. He looked to be at least a 100 pounds overweight. No way he should be on the field. He should have been RShirted his freshman year . But i guess he is happy at UK because he is playing. For Hatcher the CJ wrote another article Friday how UK beat everyone including Charlie to get Hatcher out of Louisville. They write it every year before the game or pull it out the archives. There were several quotes from Hatcher that he made the right choice. What was puzzling was he did not want to go to UK because of Jokers's losing ways but said it was different under Stoops. I think the CJ should interview him after the game each year.

I posted the same opinion on another thread, why would any recruit who is any good go there to play football ? They have an awful football tradition and they will never be heard from again. Jason Hatcher will more than likely play 4 years of college football and never beat Louisville or have a winning season.
To me the selling point of immediate playing time and playing in the SEC just isn't enough. There is no player development, no recognition, the only thing you get from playing football there is you get to be the butt of all the jokes.

Hatcher would not crack the starting line up here and he knew that coming out of High School.
Far from the truth. He probably would be a RS soph. now at UL and getting plenty of reps. But Stoops and Elliott have "something special for him" at UK.

Tried to tell them that player development was more important than "Star Rankings"...most didn't want to hear it..if Matt Elam would have came here under Strong or Petrino he would not even have seen the field until he shown commitment in the weight room and discipline at the training table...

I had read a lot about the revolutionary conditioning program their coach was using. Imho, the UK o-line looked worn out in the 4th quarter, and our defense was beating them constantly. They resorted to holding in order to stop our pass rush, and got flagged for it.

Is this the Mildcat Strength & Conditioning coach?

Go Cats!

I think the in-state guys go there because football players get free basketball tickets! If you were a faux 4 star from Pikeville , wouldn't that sway you?
