The bad thing about the loss to Pitt wasnt the outcome, if was the lack of intensity for 40 minutes.
Had the Cards played all year like they did against UNC, theyd have one loss.
Play with maximum effort and youre 'always' a winner. Yeah, cliche but true.
The efforts the 4 games before UNC were unacceptable.

That's the part I'm struggling with the most about the Pitt game. 2 additional minutes of intensity and that's probably a win. As coach Mack said, they told on themselves in the UNC game.
There was a narrative before the game that Pitt was terrible and it was their 1st conference road game. They didn't respect Pitt, it happens. I am sure UNC didn't fully respect Louisville. The ACC is brutal, when you don't bring it you can lose to anyone in this league. Every team has a dude that can get hot. BC is terrible, but let their guard go off and they become a problem.
FYI- I would take Pitt's 2 freshman guards In a second. They are legit, FSU is really good defensively they couldn't handle them either.

Perfect storm for the Panthers IMO. First they got UofL when the Cards were (IMO) looking ahead to playing UNC, and then they got FSU who just played a very emotional game against Duke and came out flat. Not saying those frosh guards aren't legit because they are, but it was the perfect storm for the Panthers. They got 2 wins they wouldn't have won under normal circumstances.
The Cards face the same challenge tomorrow night. They cannot take BC lightly just because they beat the snot out of UNC.
Duke just lost to Syracuse in Cameron Indoor Stadium which kind of proves my point. Duke won a very emotional road game at Florida State then got full of themselves and got beat by a team that should not have been able to beat them.
Home or away, the ACC is brutal because of the emotional roller coaster. Got to be mentally strong to win consistently in this league.
Good point. I think you do have to factor this in.
The crazy/frustrating part is if the Cards just get 2 or 3 stops.... I’ll go as far as to say 2 or 3 hard fouls in the lane (the way Pitt was shooting free throws that night) on some of those pre-game warmup layups they were giving up during the game and the Cards win. Cards were escorting their guards to basket.
Much respect to Pitt’s guards and the “hostile” environment.
Well to be fair, it was a perfect storm for us against UNC. They just came off an overtime win against a rival, NC State. Every bit important game in Raleigh and Chapel Hill. UNC beat Pitt and we had just lost to Pitt in OT. Heels came out flat, PG got 2 quick fouls and the rest is history. Moral of the story, bring it every game and anybody can beat anybody in the ACC.
Emotion and mindset seem to play a larger role in college basketball than in any other sport. FSU was coming off a gut punch of a loss to Duke, then lose to Pitt. UofL, embarrassed after the Pitt loss regroups and knocks off UNC. The mental aspect of the game is fascinating.
Yes, but without their floor general and 3rd leading scorer......that was huge! Jones played 6 minutes and Reddish was out with an illness.

Easy big guy.....dont say all Louisville fans....do some further reading on other posts. MANY of us on here gave your guards a ton of credit for getting to the lane. While we may have taken PITT lightly, all that goes out the window after 5 minutes of action where it was evident that PITT was not going to roll over and die.
I do like our chances at home, but definitely not going to be a gimme. I, personally don't think we have a true gimme left on our schedule!

Here's someone coming to the Louisville board talking about its fans making excuses, then his last comment was " top 15 NC state was lucky they didn't lose to pitt too on their home floor. That's a fact. I didnt blame exams, or being tired, or an emotional loss, or stress, or some other nonsense. Either show up to play or lose. NC State won by making shots. Louisville and Florida State lost from missing shots. Anything else is an excuse.
Pitt hadn’t won a conference game in two years, and this year up to the Louisville game hadn’t been very impressive. Stuff like that factors in mentally. It’s human behavior. Now, it looks like Pitt is finally turning things around. Congrats and good luck.
I’d say when you beat a program 12 straight times - many of them good old fashioned Housing Authority beat downs - you might start to overlook them. Congrats on breaking the streak little buddy.

I gave them credit too, but the pitt visitor just wanted to whine that we're not all gushing over their team. Capel is doing a great job for the Panthers. Maybe good enough to be in line for the Duke job once coach K decides he's had enough.
I hear ya Cue!! I hate when outsiders come on a board and generalize a statement across a group of fans. Capel hit gold with these two freshman recruits. Interested to see how he does long term at PITT. Think he got some very valuable experience at OU, went back to Duke and learned some more.

Went too far with cole slaw on sandwiches. Cole slaw on pulled pork bbq sandwiches is absolutely fantastic.
I also love the “Carolina Classic” cole slaw and chili on a hamburger or hotdog...
