The University of Maryland is reportedly heavily pursuing Iona head coach Rick Pitino to become their new head coach next season, according to The Sports Junkies at 106.7 The Fan.
These rumors have Maryland fans very excited for what Pitino could do for the school should he be interested in the job.

Pitino is currently in his second season at Iona and has transformed the team to one of the best mid-major schools in the country, currently sitting at 24-5 and atop the MAAC conference.
After working at Providence, Kentucky, and for the Boston Celtics, Pitino is perhaps best known for his time at Louisville, which ended with him being fired due to FBI investigations into corruption under his watch in 2017.
It may be one-sided interest coming from the side of Maryland however, as Pitino said earlier last month that he wants to stay at Iona and was even negotiating a lifetime contract with the school.
