Per Shefty Teddy may come off PUP list this week

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is expected to come off the physically unable to perform list as early as this week, barring any setbacks in his checkup with his knee surgeon on Monday, league sources told ESPN.

Stepping in because starter Sam Bradford is injured, the Minnesota quarterback has shown the consistency and balance of a natural leader.

Bridgewater dislocated his left knee and tore multiple ligaments on Aug. 30, 2016, and hasn't played or practiced since.

Once the Vikings take him off the PUP list, they will have a 21-day window in which to activate him or place him on season-ending injured reserve. But with Sam Bradford nursing a lingering knee injury, Bridgewater has re-entered the Vikings' quarterback conversation this season.

Bridgewater wants to play, but the Vikings would like to give him as much time as possible to heal. Still, both sides are pleased with his progress. Bridgewater is scheduled to become a free agent after the season, and Minnesota has Bradford on an expiring contract, so the team must make quarterback decisions in the short and long term.

Bridgewater could be back at practice as early as this week and ultimately could loom as a pivotal figure in the Vikings' season.

If Teddy makes it back to be the Vikes’ starter this year it will be one of the great stories in NFL history. Almost every knowledgeable football mind said he would never play again.

Us Cards fans remember the 2nd half of Rutgers 2012, always knew it was possible.

I had hoped that Teddy would be allowed to fully heal rather than a business decision to determine his football future.

Understood but Teddy is going to be cleared today for practice. It's been over a year with no contact and the Vikings will have three weeks to decide to make him eligible to play and renew his contract. I don't want him rushing back just because Bradford sucks.
